@@jakefacine ive never really found dance of eternity to be that complicated, yeah it has a bunch of time signature changes but rhythmically and technically still pretty simple. (at least compared to stuff like aal)

There is bass (or programmed bass from a plug-in as in the latest album) on every album, but it's never in the forefront - as, like you said, it doesn't need to be. Sometimes Javier plays it, sometimes Tosin, sometimes Misha, sometimes it's programmed, depends on the album. There's a recent video of Tosin showing how he used a MIDI bass plug-in on the latest album (which is the only one that has not used real bass). When they play live, they use backing tracks for the synths. I have no idea if they also include the bass parts.

You really should have watched Matt (Garstka, drums) play this.. ;) Video is on his YT channel. :) Many good live performances and since this is an insrumental, in future try to check if there is an live performance available and check that out as well. :) It is great what two eight-string guitars and drums can make happen. :D
