I agree. Tosin and Misha resurrected a dying art and redefined not only how the modern guitar is approached but also how to compose parts on it. Standing on the shoulders of the likes of Meshuggah and Dream Theater of course. Now everyone sounds like varying degrees of Misha and Tosin. Even the clean tone guitarists.

It doesn't like he's counting but rather singing the melody. If you've played a song hundreds of times you usually just feel the music and don't need to count along unless the drummer start doing crazy modulations.

FYI it's an acronym for "Confined Animal Feeding Operation", an industrial agriculture term where companies like Tyson have hundreds of chickens, pigs, or cattle crammed into a small space to maximize meat production. It fits with the whole band name, some folks online say Tosin is vegan or vegetarian, but idk if that's true

saw them play it in 2009? 2010? something like that. still the best guitarist ive ever seen live. The best part was when they turned all the pedals off and homie with the beard laid down one of the most amazing original solo fingerstyle tracks ive ever heard. I used to play classical guitar a lot so that one had a big grin on my face.

Everyone's dunking on this guy but I sort of get where he may be coming from: CAFO is definitely one of the "dumber" and flashier AAL songs. Super fast and complex but lacks the harmonic nuance of most other AAL songs and theres only a handful of different sections. It's very "young" music, which makes sense given that Tosin was very much still asserting himself as a player back then.
