How about BLACK LAGOON? One of the few anime where I heartily recommend the English dub. Oh, yeah, it's violent, and the language is salty.

Why the heck isn't Psycho-Pass on the list? That show is friggin' awesome! And I agree with several others here, Black Lagoon really belongs on the list as well I watched one episode of Hozuki no Kuni and dropped it. It just wasn't for me...

Some of my favourite adult anime (not including the most obvious very big hitters) that I could recommend are Outlaw Star - Cool sci-fi series with space ships that they fight in but not in a slow and boring way, they feel almost like mecha fights at times but even as someone who is not into mecha that much it was fun because those bits were rare and sporadic and it mainly focused on the characters and their personal fights using guns with magic shells, taoist magic, sword fighting assassins and a cat girl race. Plenty of humour, action and a very cool world. Desert Punk - If you want to edge more to comedy and something a bit more grounded then desert punk is that cheeky, ecchi hungry kid that survives in the desert with a shotgun and a lot of grit, and perviness. Guyver the bioboosted armour - Gave me old school devil man vibes except instead of powerful and overly confident devils that think they can just kill you it was a corporation of goons that had got the ability to mutate. It was memorable for having cool villains and action and just a good overall feel. Just a few picks from me that are interesting but the top two I recommend most as they had more overall character.

The weird, tilted speech and pauses in parts of sentences they shouldn't be... it's uncanny. I am not into sci-fi or a fan of characters with animal heads. I like battle shounen, just wish the characters were mostly adults. It's why I loved Bleach so much. Give me r-rated hot guys with swords or powers, and this girl is in heaven. Also, Samurai Champloo is so good!

Jormungand is sooo good!!! Highly recommend! Especially if you like black lagoon! Golden kamui and samurai champloo are also so fantastic!!!! They will have you on a binge! Edit: forgot to mention that “no gun life” really is underrated. It’s a great show as well that I also recommend! Honestly this whole list is full of fantastic recommendations I totally back up! (A few I haven’t seen but also plan on checking out. )
