I know Pokémon games oh boy do I know my Pokémon games, but the TCG and Anime are… kinda not really appealing to me. Which is fair with a franchise as collasal as Pokémon. Yeah, the reason for Pikachu's evolution problem was that he flat out REFUSED to evolve at all. Sprigatito evolved because he wanted to protect Liko and her crew from Rayquaza.

Tbf Sprigatito is able to evolve normally like other pokemon while Pikachu needs a thunder stone to evolve, and Ash asked Pikachu a few times if it wanted to evolve but Pikachu decided no. So, he went along with it and didn't let pikachu evolve.

Haven’t seen the new series, but it literally has an entire episode of Pikachu refusing to evolve. He considered it to be Lt. Surge’s raichu, but Pikachu wanted to prove it was good enough as it was. I’m pretty sure there’s at least two or three other episodes clearly showing Pikachu and other Pokemon like Bulbasaur refusing evolution. A lot claim it’s because of how bratty and disobedient Charamander became with both evolutions, when it was so sweet and obedient when Ash adopted him

Damn how can yall be a fan of pokemon, watch all of the series across 26 years, SEE ash's bonds with Pikachu, saw the last scene where he is fighting against leon's charizard in the pokemon journeys and hear him says " its the best of all " when he met Pikachu, and still complained the fact that he don't wanna evolve pikachu? Or the fact that pikachu actively reject the thunderstone? He loves pikachu, when people evolve their mons most are expected it to become stronger than their previous self, but ash don't want Pikachu to thinks thay he need to change himself in order to become stronger, " you shouldnt force your pokemon to evolve just so they can be strong! I don't think Liko is meant to be "The New Ash" because if being accomplished means evolving your starter Pokémon instead of winning a world tournament, then that is the weirdest flex I've heard all year. Especially since Ash and Pikachu were against evolving Pikachu into Raichu, and Pikachu, along with Ash's unevolved mons, proved their own worth in their own strength without needing to evolve at all.
