Fun fact: Anne (Anna?) of Cleaves (the German one who got rejected for her looks) actually out lived all the other wives- even his sixth. I like that it's framed as a "sexy" song and how it talks about the men as actual partners instead of predators. Let me explain, I like it because that's probably what Katherine thought of it as. She was groomed at such a young age so she probably mistook her horrific abuse as genuine interest and love. But if you look past some of the upbeat components of the song and really look at what's happening in the lyrics, you realize what's happening.

When I first listened to this before realizing the true story, I thought she was happy for this all to happen but now I know the full story it's truly devastating-but it's thanks to animators like you showing what really happened, and not portraying her as the bad guy but instead innocent! But honestly 'playtimes over' is the most heartbreaking line of this song, because she's basically saying her childhood was over when it just started because of everything that happened to her-

One of the things that I like about this song is that it starts out sexy and confident but as it goes on, the chorus, which stays the same except for a few lines, starts to sound less fun and sexy and more tragic and horrifying. It's like as time passes, and she grows up and matures, she realizes how fucked up her life really is. And it happens a lot more subtly than in Don't Lose Ur Head, where Anne Boleyn only acknowledges that she's fucked when she's crying "What was I meant to do?" But then she goes back to being bubbly and happy. But this song is just one long trainwreck that's slowly unfurling.

Every time I hear this I just think of all the euphemisms and it hurts. She was just a baby being manipulated by grown ass men and to make it sadder, women back then didn't have the right or power to say no to guys. Also HENRY WAS OLD ENOUGH TO BE HER DAD. Also she was beheaded by axe which took a long time and was super painful for her because the axe guy was incompetent and would hit her back and head many times while hacking away so she would've died from the pain of that faster than anything. (I was told this when I was 12 and not only had a month of recurring nightmares because we were shown interpretive drawings of moments before and during, I was also sent home from school because I excused myself to the bathrooms and threw up because of the images shown and the mental images. Still, that teacher was one of the best history teachers I had and she sent my friends out for me and came down to the office to check in on me with some water while I waited for my mom to pick me up)

We actually really don't know his age. It is often said that he was 36 but there is no real contemporary source for that. Based on circumstantial evidence (the fact that he was unmarried, the ages of his friends, etc), it's more likely that he was 23 than 36 - but, in the end, we don't know for certain. Oh, and Catherine was probably 13 when their 'relationship' started, but again, we can't be sure. She is thought to have been born somewhere in 1523 and she most likely was, based on available facts, but we have no definitive date of birth for either of them.
