It Doesn't Matter ! No one can please everyone especially with 21 century where naked girls jumps in a CS animation tutorial video , he gets like 1 million viewer while a very good straight to the point video like yours will get at most 1000 or more viewer ! Sadly but the truth is always truth so the sun is the sun !

I rarely animate in Maya, but am animating a camera in all of the wrong ways. Your video was so incredibly useful. I can't wait to return to work and re-animate my scene. Doing it your way (using the Look Through Selected) instead of my way (animating the camera by dragging it around tediously and getting jerky results) is priceless. Thank you!!!

@CrashElements I just learned to do this at work last week. You can use Camera Sequencer in Maya to jump from camera to camera. I'll be making a video tutorial on this soon! Professionally, we never "zoom" the camera. We actually animate and move the camera closer to the character.
@EryuHD6 жыл бұрын
Just like to point out that, even though this method works fine for playblasts and such, when rendering with motionblur as a renderpass, frame 83-85 will have a huge amount of smear and will be totally useless when comping, which in turn means you'll be cutting three to four frames in total. However, this works fine if you're method for motionblur is "doing it in post", in for example AE or nuke.
@AnimationMethods12 жыл бұрын
@Quemaine1000 Right click on the timeline and you'll get a window. Click the bottom one that say Playblast. You can also check the setting by clicking on the small box next to the word Playblast.

Yes, you can use two or more cameras. But it's a little harder in maya 2009. From Maya 2011 to 2013 you have a tool called Camera Sequencer that make this process much easier. I don't have Maya 2009 anymore.

The 180 line goes from the character to the rake and the camera always stays on the left side of the rake and the character. On the last shot, you might think its breaking the rule but the camera is on the same side and at a close up. Maybe you're confused because the character turns around making you believe the camera is on the other side. Look close :)

I'm thinking about how much fun it would be, just to have a virtual camera as part of an incredibly robust Tank Rig, where the camera is parent constrained to the rest of the rig. That way, whoever watches the animation would be like "Yee-haw."

Thanks for the great video. I have a question about animation though... I don't know maya very well but I'm into it & I can make some walk cycles where the simple bot is like walking on a treadmill... But the thing is I can't actually make the character move from one place to another. When I attempt to do so, it just deforms in shape and I'm not able to move it... So is there any suggestions of how to actually move to character, just like in this animation here... Thanks again :)

You might need to upgrade your computers RAM. You need at least 4GB of RAM for Maya to work smoothly. If you only have 2GB you might get that problem often.

Isn't it better to have different (separate) cameras for different cuts? Where di you learn this technique? At a studio?
@AnimationMethods8 жыл бұрын
+Jacques M Easier with one camera. If not you can use the camera sequencer. There are many ways professional studios use cameras. Use what works best for you. This is one technique to get beginners started. And yes, this technique is used in studios.
