Animating Dynamic Components in Sketchup - Advanced

So there has been a bit of demand on KZbin for more information about animating dynamic components in Sketchup. I did this bonus video a while ago for my paying customers who purchased to my Sketchup For Visualisation short course, hence it is using Sketchup 2018. It is a bit of a long one and has a lot of examples including double sliding and swing doors, double hung windows and even furniture arrangement options which animate using the interact function in Sketchup.

Great tutorials! What I learned from making videos: Even the simplest things don't work when you are screen recording. I would always re-create my videos from scratch if something didn't work, but then I realized that viewing problem solving techniques is extremely helpful for viewers. With Sketchup it seems like starting from scratch is usually the fastest way to fix something.

Great explanation in this and the last video. I never understood dynamic components until now. You don't have fix smart quotes over and over. You can turn that off: System Preferences → Keyboard → Text → uncheck the "Use smart quotes and dashes".

Can we animate an object by changing the position on an axis twice? so that the movement will be like a curve. Sorry for my bad English

Are you trying to use _"Scenes"_ instead, as a way of doing this without buying the Pro version? Or, are you trying to make it have 3 positions?

why are you mixing your units... inches in the parent component and cm in the sub-components? shouldn't they be all inch or cm ?

Is Component Attributes only available in the paid version of SketchUp Make? The only thing I see is Dynamic Components → Component Options. I don't see any other items in the Dynamic Components section.

Thanks for posting an informative video. Couple of critiques if I may. The sound from your mic is super harsh, there is a real tinny quality to it and you are picking up way too much BG noise, it makes it uncomfortable to listen to. I would look into improving that sound quality quite a bit. Second, Dynamic components are really tripping me up so watching through a video looking for answers only to have to watch another having as much difficulty as I am is a tad frustrating. Maybe edit the vid down to make it more concise, or rehearse your technique to make it more concise would be a way to go. Super appreciative of your effort, just sending some feedback is all. Macs are solid. That quote thing is an option in System Preferences.
