So much of it is 3D assisted slop. They've lowered the animation quality so much and I guess nobody really cares, and they're just pumping formulaic junk. I watched Macross Plus a few months back and could not believe it came out in 1995 it was so crisp. Then you see a clip of the flavor of the month popular slop and its a near fully CG character moving mechanically on a, as you said, a green unmoving background that never changes no matter the shot. I don't know how people watch it the story could be shakespeare but if the animation is cheap and clearly cutting every corner it can, what's the point I'll just read a book

That is a great way to explain it, they have found a quicker and cheaper way to get episodes out faster and so they keep on cracking out the slop. I also went back to the past and watched Bubblegum Crisis and I was amazed by what I saw. So much effort was put back in back then and it is appreciated.

@@Forsaken.Wanderer Appreciated by too few, sadly. The netflix animes I can't even finish an episode of they're so badly animated. There are occasionally good animes still, but usually it's from the same 3 or so old guys that care about the artistry and they're spending multiple years for one movie not pumping out a new 25 episode "self-insert main character meets girl" series every month.

@@roarbertbearatheon8565 I don't know how people sit through the copy pasted slop either. It's like the women's erotica industry, they have a template and they print out 100s of the same story but with different names each year and there are women that read nothing but over and over again. Most of these studios that produce anime today see it as a factory line rather than a creative process.

@@Forsaken.Wanderer The sheer number of different eroticas and animes that are all the same and apparently get people consuming is kind of crazy. I understand erotica because it's basically just porn for women, but cookie cutter slop anime I'm not sure what the feeling is there that people are chasing. Maybe I'm too old and there's some itch younger people are trying to scratch with it. Loneliness? Escapism I also get, I do alot of it myself, but I demand a little more quality than the same thing repackaged 100 slightly different ways
