Art tutorials with auntie Marine has to be among the best series. The sense sharpening part makes sense with Senchou being sensitive to touch but having a bad sense of smell.

In my experience, those times where it feels like you're in a slump and everything you're creating is rubbish usually means you're at the tail end of a skill plateau. You notice that the quality just isn't there, but it can be hard to pinpoint why. But once that breaks, you go through another period of rapid improvement. I sort of enjoy hitting those moments because it means that a big leap forward is coming.

It's weird how all-encompassing Hololive(and Nijisanji as well) has become when you watch one KZbinr(such as Naoki-sensei) you wouldn't normally associate with VTubers start to interact with Vtubers. Also as aside, as Marine suggests, if you're looking to improve as an artist I would watch some of Naoki-sensei's videos. He does step-by-step processes sometimes, but he often gives practical advice for all sorts of situations.(Plus, a lot of videos have multi-lingual subs.)

what marine describes at 13:44 is actually a real known phenomena called the dunning-kruger effect!! its something that a lot of creatives experience of any medium, and basically states that the only way to improve at a craft is being able to recognize your own incompetence. there’s are really nifty diagrams online that map out exactly what marine is describing!

I don't draw but many same principles apply to music stuff. The last part is very real. When you do stuff, when it's ready it's already kind of outdated, because you now can do better, wanting to do the next "perfect" thing, which never ends up perfect and never getting that satisfaction. Though it also depends on the scope of the project, with limited scope you may be able to create something good. Personally, I need to achieve about 90-95% perfection to be able to be long-term happy with it. You definitely need good learning material, which modern youtube times are really good for. But then you need tons of motivation and just practice and stumbling around, there are no shortcuts around that. For drawing, storytelling, realistic and powerful mentality and motivation I recommend Ethan Becker's channel, he's a genius.

Guess I'm not getting better at art. Thing is, I've always thought of my drawings as bad. I never actually complete any art I try because I hate how it looks and can't get certain parts to look better. The only art I have completed were from my mandatory art class, and the only reason I like them are because they are actually complete. Also, I either traced or referenced both of my completed art, so even then, its not something I created myself entirely.
@ButtonHasher3 жыл бұрын
Using reference is fine. How are you going to draw something if you don't know or remember what it looks like? Maybe blind people are the only people capable of making TRUE ART /s
@Pixeluchiha3 жыл бұрын
@@ButtonHasher very true, but ever since middle school, I always just copied out of my Pokemon handbook. I always have things I want to draw, but never can actually draw them. And my artistic brother doesn't help me out, either.

@@Pixeluchiha Well if drawing is fun for you, then you have to accept that you won't be at the level that you would like to be tomorrow. You can only be better than you were yesterday. Even if you got better by an unnoticable amount, that's okay and you have to put some trust in this. If your completed drawing ends up bad, just do it again. There's no obligation to show anyone. There's nothing to lose and really a lot to gain. There's also sites where you can ask for critique and advice if you're able to not let your ego get in the way. Since it's online, again, there's really nothing to lose.
@Pixeluchiha3 жыл бұрын
@@ButtonHasher Thanks for the moral support. I don't necessarily enjoy drawing, but its mostly because I'm frustrated that I can't get my ideas out. I really love thinking of things to draw or map out, but I'm so incompetent at it that it is more frustrating than fun.
