It gets dark very quickly. Oda shows how dark the real world can be with lots of references. But he puts all dark themes in sugar and makes them hilarious while keeping the messages. It begins with a sad background story in episode 4 and one of the saddest ones are within the first 40 episodes. You think that the story can be topped by the range of episodes somewhere between 100 and 200 but gets better and better. There are disappointing story arcs at first glance but the importance is revealed later on. I don't like to be called a fan but in this case I am proud to say that I am a fan for about 20 years since television release in my country. Sure, I lost interest in the show a few times. But I have a strong connection to the series because it literally saved my life. I had major depression and the series gave me hope and a reason to live. Sounds silly but that series is my best therapist I've ever had.

This series goes from happy go lucky to toppling corrupt regimes and covering themes like racism, drugs, slavery, forced labor, etc... but they do it in a way that never breaks the immersion. Their legitimately just goofy friends taking on a fantasy world that is much more corrupt then they initially realized (as you could see in the breathtaking world of One Piece video). This series has the highest of highs and the lowest of lows emotionally. I have never cried more over a series. And somehow it's long enough to cover half the book themes you can find at a library

Yes opening 12 and 13 are what got me into One Piece. I wanted to know what happened badly cause it looks crazy and serious af. The best choice I ever made 🥲and definitely the best arc for me😆1000+ episodes does look intimidating but it is divided into different arcs so it never got boring and the stories and fights are different and amazing. It will pass by very quickly. Very recommended 👍

The openings are usually divided into two sections, the first part of an opening will have art, jokes, fun times and vibes, but it's not related to what is going on in the story at the moment. The second part will give you more info about what is actually happening, which is why you got confused about the vibes and the storyline in those last 2 openings. I think it is done that way so that you can watch the first part of the opening without risking getting spoiled. (for those who don't want to see spoilers in the openings)

Once I started, I didn't see the amount of episodes as "oh I have to get through this much content" but "damn, I don't want to catch up and I'm glad I have so much to watch" I caught up to the show in 3 months 😅

NO WAY YOU ARE ACTUALLY WATCHING IT. Just saw your breathtaking world of one piece reaction, trust me bro i've watched over 200 different anime series and One Piece is the GOAT. I understand one piece has flaws and it can be slow at times, but trust me it's one of those shows that the longer you watch it for the more you will enjoy it. I recommend aiming for episode 100 and breaking it down into small goals, trust me, this is PEAK and it's not even finished yet!

Essentialy One piece is not just an anime.(Its a Journay to the point where the author originaly intended for it to be around 5 years long). 25 years later we are approaching around 83%.(And Oda recently stated that he doesnt intend to end the series that soon anyway).I Honestly believe that it might go for over 30 years by the time its done.(Especialy since Oda also stated that he wont be drawing any longer series after its done).

Btw, this is late(I am going through your One Piece playlist from the start) but I recommend not skipping through the One Piece story if you ever watch/read it(fillers you can just skip of course, but there aren't that many fillers). It all connects. Whether it's character development, just getting to know the character, the world, or the plot(the One Piece world is always moving). You will miss the importance of whatever moment if you don't have the full context :) Just so you know since you mentioned wanting to skip to the latest openings episodes(in this video).

I know I'm 8 days late but, you said it starts more kid friendly, however it actually showed some really grim things pretty early on. That said. These shows are indeed intended for young teens, and for them to sorta grow up with the show, so they air for multiple years and say if it has an expected runtime of 5 years, of course the ending will be more catering to young adults than the start. Shounen means young boy. Seinen is the "adult male" demographic category. More like horror, gorey stuff might have this tag. But AOT, Tokyo ghoul etc is like late teen, so not seinen. Meanwhile One piece has been on for more than 25 years. xD

That was such a cool reaction! I'm glad you're liking the openings so far, because they only get better! ❤️✨🤌 I think it's really cool how most of the reactors find one piece so nostlagic and comfy, putting smile on their face without even knowing much about it. It's also very intriguing from the point of the story, I'm sure everyone that's caught up knows how important it is that one piece and especially one character in particular makes people smile so easily. I'm sure Oda, the author, would be so proud and happy to hear that. That even the non-fans can find the joy in it. And yeah! One piece's style, that cartoonish "kiddish" and exaggerated is like that on purpose! Oda said it himself that he developed this artstyle specifically to differ one piece from other series and make it recognizable and unique! Amazing isn't it? It also makes the dark scenes even so creepier and more sinister with this vibe. Also, prepare yourself for seeing some WILD stuff. Oda doesn't let anything constrain him, and as a master of caricature and art itself, he has designed some of the most fantastical, ridiculous, over-the-top characters and places in history! But y'know, the magic of Oda is that he can make even the goofiest, hilarious and most strange-looking characters be the most BADASS and COOL characters EVER. And so, don't let yourself be fooled. As you said, you know that there is more to one piece than meets the eye at first as you heard probably from other comments or your friends. It's true. One piece can seem like your everyday happy comedic story with dumb simple happy-go-lucky protagonist, but that's not how it is at all! Not the story, nor the protagonist. I mean, don't get me wrong, One piece is full of comedy, HILARIOUS comedy! But that's not all it has. As the story progresses you slowly come to realize lots of secrets and plots, with even more mysteries being born, and how truly dark and serious the world of one piece is - how similar...it is to our own world. As you read through it, more and more themes it brings up and it gets you absolutely tumbling out of your chair with just how real it is. Quite ironic right? With how fantastical and impossible the characters and the world look? And yet there's so much tangible, real themes that makes you feel like everything in that fantastical world is real. How the characters feel real and that you are one of them. Like honestly, I've never gotten more attached to fictional characters than the one piece ones. It's unbelievable. And lastly, the protagonist. Don't let people talk you into dismissing Luffy as some simpleton who only knows how to fight, eat and smile. Instead, pay attention to him, really close, try notice the small things. His character progression as the capitan, as a pirate and future king of the pirates may seem small, but is in fact, very big, it's just on more subtle level, and only the ones that take notice of those moments of his growth, see it. At the start of the story, you basically know nothing about him, he shares very little about himself except for how he got his hat, and you never pay it any mind...that you actually don't know a lot about his background as such. Luffy's a deep character, no matter how many people don't see it, the true readers and watchers know that he is and what makes him so amazingly written : his dream as straightforward and clear as it seems is not in fact like that, his motivations, his unique morale compass, his relationships and magnetism... He's really the best character that Oda has written in the series, and continue to keeps writing. He'll always be my favorite 😁 Anyway, sorry for the long comment, I couldn't help myself. I'm really excited for the part 2!!!!!! Ah yes and lot of the depictions of the crew with large animals or in random places are actually animated cover art for the manga chapters! That's why it feels like it's so random
