I was hesitant to watch the series for YEARS. One day I just began watching on a whim, and then 5 months later I was caught up. The biggest step is the first one, then just vibe with the series and take it at your own pace. It's not a race; it's an adventure, meant to be experienced at whatever pace you choose. It's my favorite now and has become a massive part of my life.

I started watching One Piece in January 2017 and I'm currently on Episode 959. I've watched up to Episode 959 twice and read up to the chapter equivalent of it once. Basically I've done One Piece three times. It's not that it took me 5 years to get this far really, it's just that I've been taking breaks. To answer when this came out, manga started 1997 and anime started 1999. The anime is about Pirates searching for the ultimate treasure, One Piece, but it mostly takes place on the various islands they land on, skipping most of the sailing. The guy with red hair, the guy with the cross on his back, that guy with the crazy mustache from the beginning, and the guy with tattoos on his face are all actually good guys! 15:39 "They're older now!" They aren't, they're the same here 23:57 "The skeleton is a villain!?" Skelley is never a villain,, he was even standing _with_ everyone there!

All the characters in the openings aren't villains or good guys, some of the pirate crews neutral and some are full tilt "pirates" meaning they do stuff that pirates do, and some crews like Luffy are following the dreams and have a goal in mind. One Piece : A story about a young mans dream to become the next Pirate King and finding a crew to help him achieve his goal. He literally has nothing to his name in the beginning but the clothes on his back, a straw hat and a special power given to him from eating a rare fruit. He starts from point A and sets out to follow his dream. It takes a bit to get into for some people because it was released in the late 90s but if you can sit tight, most people get hooked and cant stop watching because One piece only gets better as you go.

First time i watched OP on tv i was like 8-10 years old. Later, on my 15-16s I started to watch the anime in japanese from the beggining. At that moment, it only had like 400 eps on anime. I wanted more, so I continued it on manga (they both were on the same arc so I didn't have much more to read xD). And here I am, 13-15 years after that, still enjoying the adventure (even more than when I started), still finding new stuff that I didn't noticed before, and having One Piece as a really really important part of my life. If u start to watch it I recommend you to have patience and pay attention. Its very good builded and has a lot of details but its pacing it's not fast. If u want to build a detailed...something, u need some time. That's it. This is not an anime about fights. It's a story WITH fights. The important thing is the lore and the construction of the story, world and characters. Enjoy the journey nakama, u gonna thank Goda at some point :) I wish health and love for everyone. But not money. That's for Nami ;) Edit. btw, yes. One piece is emotional. Not all the time but when it is, it hits hard (luckily there are different emotions, not only sadness). You can have a couple of little tastes on the first episodes, and then from ep 30 to ep 1000 it gets better and better. Eps 1-40 are the introduction. Then the adventure starts to get serious... ep 60...120...200... and then, after the ep 278, u just can't quit. if you didn't fall in love with the show before that episode, you will at that point. From then it became hands down my favorite piece of work and trust me, probably more than half of the fandom would tell you the same thing I'm kinda bored and also enjoying ur reaction so so I want to comment more things. 15:43 "Why this is anime so long. I would love to watch this anime". Many people thinks: "Why is this anime not longer? I want to reset my memory to watch it again" xD. Op 1 is an anthem. Except that one cause it's special, from these 12 openings, 2 and 3 are really good and give me nostalgia from my childhood, 4 and 8 are so original and they have a really nice vibe, and openings 5-6 are from a extremely good moment on the show and they also are bangers. Those 2 are probably my favourites. (Op 7 is op 1 with the voice actors singing it. U didnt include it on the video but idk if u watched it or not)
@dredgenrur31902 жыл бұрын
I say this a lot and I'll never stop saying it when recommending One Piece to new people, the length is the last thing you have to take into account when thinking about starting to whatch it. Just watch it at your ouwn pace, don't force yourself, and you'll be caught up in no time at all. Like any long running series, it has it's pacing issues and filler between important scenes, but all in all, it is still one of the best series to ever grace this world. And that's just the anime, the manga doesn't have this issues, that's why, when it comes to how many copies it has sold in all of history, it's in the second place, just behind Superman and having surpassed Batman and Spiderman in the last three years. All three of those series are well over 60 years old, meanwhile One Piece has had it's 25th anniversary just today(July 19th), and in that little time, compared to the rest, it's made it so far.

Also, OP might sometimes be a bit difficult to start for some people seeing the number of episodes, but there is a go to motivation video to start One Piece which I would recommend you to react to after you finish the openings, its on KZbin and its called "The Breathtaking World of One Piece". All the Straw Hats explained (part 1/pre reverse mountain) Monkey D. Luffy (Loofee btw): He is a member of the Monster Trio and a Yonko (one of the 4 now 5 emperors of the world) who is a rubber man because of eating the Gomu Gomu no Mi (rubber rubber fruit) (though we have new info that he didn’t actually eat the Gomu Gomu no Mi but that’s spoilers) when he was young and in doing so is unable to swim. Due to the meeting with his hero Red Haired Shanks and some of his “brothers,” he now wishes to set sail and start an adventure. He wants to find the one piece and be king of the pirates. He is the ships captain. He is the first member of the Straw Hats. Roranora Zoro: He is a member of the Monster Trio and after trying and failing to defeat his friend in a sword battle when he was a child with him having 9 swords he decided to train with the 3 sword style. After Luffy saved him from his prison at a marine base and some convincing from Luffy he decided to join the Straw Hats and explore the world. He wants to be the strongest swordsman in the world. He is the ships first mate. He is the second member of the Straw Hats. (Last name unknown) Nami: when Usopp gave her a staff that can (kinda) change the weather she decided to specialize in that which slowly evolved into more thunder-based abilities. Having worked previously with the Arlong pirates in order to earn enough money to buy her village back only to have it stolen by Arlong, she asked Luffy to help her, so being who he is Luffy Zoro Usopp and Sanji went to go fight Arlong and his crew. She wants to make a map of the entire world. She is the ship’s navigator and keeps track of all the money. She is the third member (or possibly fifth since she technically wasn’t for a while) of the Straw Hats. (Last name unknown) Usopp: due to his father being the sniper of the Red Hair pirates, it’s not surprising that Usopp is spot on with his slingshot. After lying for years about being a strong warrior of the sea, he decided to turn those lies into truths by joining the Straw Hats after they saved his village from the Black Cat pirates. Now he specializes in tools and his sniping skills. He wants to be a strong warrior of the sea. He is the ships sniper. He is the third/fourth member of the Straw Hats. Vinesmoke Sanji: After being bullied and disowned by his family at a very young age in the New World (specifically Whole Cake island), he somehow landed himself a job on a cruise ship as a chef where he read stories about giant fish and never ending oceans and things nobody else believed but him. One day the ship was attacked by the Cook pirates during a storm and everyone got wiped out except captain Zeff who cut off his own leg to save young Sanji from drowning. Years later Sanji works for him on his restaurant the Baratie. When Luffy and the others save the Baratie from the Krieg pirates (and Nami leaves with the ship) Zeff decides to fire Sanji so that he may explore the world with the Straw Hats. He is a gentleman who simps any and all women and will never hurt one. He also smokes a lot for some reason. He is a member of the Monster Trio and specializes in kicks since hands are used for cooking. He is the ships chef. He wants to find the legendary All Blue a sea where all fish of the world live a place where he can cook to his hearts content. He is the fourth/fifth member of the Straw Hats.

All the Straw Hats explained (part 2/post reverse mountain) Tony Tony Chopper: he is a reindeer who ate the Hito Hito no Mi (human human fruit) who can no longer swim but has the ability to change between reindeer human/reindeer (his base form) and full human (and more with training. After being outcasted by the other reindeers, he decided to try and be with the humans who also thought he was a monster and shot at him, which lead him to being saved by Dr. Hiriluk another outcast. Hiriluk taught Chopper everything he knew about medicine and how pirates are free and to become one when there’s the chance. After accidentally giving Dr. Hiriluk a poisonous mushroom (mistaking the skull and crossbones for a good sign) Dr. Hiriluk died (which idk why he knew it was poison but why did he still do it) only for Chopper to start living with another doctor Dr. Kureha. Everything was fine until king Wampo came back from his mini pirate adventure and decided to attack Kureha and Chopper causing the Straw Hats to step in. Few words later and Chopper leaves Drum island as a member of the Straw Hats along with a scene that brought a tear to my eye. He is the ships doctor and his goal used to be to see a cherry blossom but after accomplishing that he now wishes to find a cure for all diseases. He is the sixth member of the Straw Hats. Nico Robin: after having a very very rough childhood which lead to an extinction of an entire island due to greedy government officials trying to keep people from reading the poniglyphs, Robin had a (correct me if I’m wrong) $20M bounty at the age of 8 due to being the sole survivor. Running from the government all her life, she decides to join Crocodile’s Baroque Works for protection against the world government, but when the evil organization that was stealing all the water from Alabasta was destroyed by Luffy and crew, she decided to join. At some point, Robin at the Hana Hana no Mi (flower flower fruit) which allows her to sprout any number of any of her limbs onto any surface she can see (this includes if she has a surface with her eye on it) often leading to her breaking peoples backs from afar or in Franky’s case squeezing someone’s balls intensely as a torture mechanism. She is arguably the smartest of the Straw Hats and wants to read all the Poniglyphs to decipher what happened in the blank century. She is the seventh member of the Straw Hats and it is unclear what she actually does besides water plants on the ship. Cutty Flam “Franky”: I forget most of the backstory but he got ran over by a train and made himself into a cyborg that runs on cola and always wears speedos but overall he’s SUUUUUPPPPEEEEEER. He’s the ship right and is the one who built the 1000 Sunny after the Going Merry couldn’t go any further (Rip). His goal is to build a ship that can conquer the Grand Line and in doing so he has to join the crew to make sure it does just that. He is the eighth member of the Straw Hats. (Last name unknown) Brook: Long ago he was a member of the Rmbar pirates who went around spreading their music to everyone who could hear, one of which was a little whale named Laboon who loved their music so Brook promised him they’d come back for him. They never did. In fact, the Rumbar pirates were attacked and all of them were killed in a dense fog. Fortunately, Brook ate the Yomi Yomi no Mi (revive revive fruit) which at the cost of his ability to swim would be given a second chance at life upon death. However, his soul got lost for over 100 years due to the fog, and is now a skeleton because of this. Stuff happened, he lost his shadow to Gecko Moria but then gained it thanks to Luffy. He then decided to join the Straw Hats as their violinist (post time skip guitarist)/ musician in general. Brook focuses on his soul abilities and his gentle blade style (classic samurai I tp behind you sheath my blade you fall over) as well as his music. He wants to travel all the way around the world and become a world renowned musician but more importantly to meet Laboon again (he’s a whale so they live for more than 100) on the other side of the Grand Line. He is the ninth member of the Straw Hats.

All the Straw Hats explained (part 3/post time skip) (Disclaimer: I’m only on dressrosa so this info won’t be that in depth) (Last name unknown) Jimbei: he is a fishman (modeled after whale shark) who specializes in fishman karate and is a warrior of peace. After some controversy with his former crew the Big Mom pirates, he decides to leave them and join the Straw Hats. What does he do I don’t know. What’s his goal I don’t know. I do know he’s the tenth member of the Straw Hats. (Last name unknown) Yamato: daughter of Kaido of the Beast pirates, she aspires to be like Kozuki Oden, and strong samurai who was supposed to be the savior of Wano until he was killed by Kaido when he stood in a boiling pot for an hour holding all his friends on a platform to keep them from boiling. In doing so Yamato aspired to be the new Oden and save Wano from her father. Shenanigans happen and she decides to join Luffy’s crew once Kaido was defeated (which he was). She is also known for having the mythical Zoan type devil fruit Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Okuchi no Makami (dog dog fruit model Okuchi no Makami) which is thought to be the guardian of Wano. She is the eleventh and newest member of the Straw Hats.

Just because I want to reiterate the trivia everyone else has already said: One Piece has run since 1999, and while it's not the 'longest' animated series around, or the 'oldest', most of the series it's being compared to are not like One Piece. Doreamon, The Simpsons, South Park etc. are all episodic comedy-series without a single overarching plotline. One Piece, while it is slow moving and split into story-arcs, is a single journey torwards a single destination established and planned from the start, making it more akin to a fantasy-epic like Lord Of The Rings, told over nearly 25 years. This is notable even compared to other shounen-anime, that don't always plan out their plotlines from the start, and can evolve drastically with the author changing the direction of their manga as they grow as an artist, or run out of ideas. PS: READ THE MANGA

The author of One Piece tackles many real world issues such as racial discrimination, inequality, corrupt government, civil war, and slavery. His story writing is too good for people who care about these things. At times, this story can make you cry. One Piece is just peak fiction among all. It just hit half billion copy sales for its manga, by far the most popular manga there is and now the second most sold comic fiction after Superman. Recently taking over the likes of Batman and Spiderman, its projected to take over Superman too very soon.

Want to know something crazy? Sesame Street is around 4 times longer than One Piece right now. The former of which had hour long episodes the whole way through. AND NO COMMERCIALS, because PBS.

What's the problem with it being long? It's not like it's a race to finish it first and you can also watch other shows along with it, watch to have fun, not just to cross it out of a list, you know

I started watching One Piece on 2019 and currently i'm at episode 879 And i think the video you are watching skipped op 7 which is basically op 1 but the voice actors of the strawhats sang the song. Oh and one piece is not the longest anime Saize san is the longest anime with 7000+ episodes

I've been watching since there were maybe 640 episodes. Now also reading the manga because the anime changed a few things of the original. Less than 100 chapters to catch up now

One Piece is not the first anime with the most episodes. That goes to Sazae-san which started over 50 years ago and has more than 5,000 episodes. Just wanted to bring that up

Here is a stolen comment I found to address people who say the length of the anime stops them from watching it: "I'll tell you what I tell everyone who wants to get into One Piece but is scared of the length: Don't worry about it. Seriously. The length should be the LAST thing on your mind. Think about One Piece like it's a REALLY long roller coaster ride. Do you get on a roller coaster just to get to the end? NO. You're there to enjoy the ride. That's what One Piece is. An incredibly long, bizarre, unreal, and often nonsensical but epic ride. As an Adventure story One Piece is the pinnacle of the "Journey over Destination" mindset. You're here to take part in the journey. To experience the Adventure. Not fuss over the destination. Which is one of the series' greatest strengths. Most media today is junk food. Cheap, quick entertainment meant to grab your attention for a short period of time, before you consume and move on to the next product. One Piece slowly drags you into the depths of its world and makes it not just a product to consume but a Legendary Odyssey that will remain with you long after you've finished it."

I started watching few episodes in Dec 2021, then stopped for few months due to some situation. Picked it again in March 2022. I just could not stop then. I'm currently on episode 988, but now I don't know if I want to catch up bcoz i will die waiting for weekly episodes😅

I love how Naruto fans always talk about how One Piece is so long, at least it’s not 56% filler 😕 Also I’m not even like a Naruto hater, I finished the show but never finished Shippuden- definitely not watching Boruto with the reviews it has. I don’t see why people shit on an anime because it’s “too long”, especially when their anime is about half the length of the so called anime.
