Oh you’re in for an incredible journey if you stay open minded. By end of season three, it became my favourite animated series. And from start of season four to its end, became my favourite series of all time, live action included (and I loved Breaking Bad, the Wire, the Sopranos, etc). Thought provoking, challenging, philosophical, and through its sheer brutality, forces you to reflect on our own world and ethics, and ways to make it better. Absolute masterpiece

The best thing about anime is that it covers many genres and should never be pigeonholed as something for kids. There's always a gateway anime that will appeal to someone and introduce one to the vast world of what anime has to offer. Just so happens you start with a once in a generation series like AOT. One of the best stories around.

The writter itself made this mastermind. You will see something so WELL WRITTEN that the experience itself of seeing how the history is told is worthy. But this serie excel where all of the other fails. I like how they show violence, but not in a grotesque way like the boys, it is there, and that is it. It shows drama, but the same way, it is there, it is happening, but nothing like everyone playing hero and get the things done (like Hannes being afraid of a 15 meters giant, it is natural TBH). He just wrote the history in a way that "things happen" instead "things should happen this way"

I definetly understand the guy in the middles thought process lol, animation in the west and Japan are very very different There's a lot of history as to 'why' but anime in Japan is considered as more of a medium for art and entertainment in general; just like movies and plays, it can appeal to any audience. But in the west animation is only ever seen with kids cartoons and shows that are made as a juxtaposition to that like the simpsons, a mature show like this is understandably surprising lol, I hope they enjoy it though!

People who look at anime from the outside tend to only see the memes, the most vocal of fans, and the stereotypes so it doesn't shock me that the first response for a lot of people is that it is cringe. But as many have said I am sure, animation is a storytelling medium, however most see it as a genre. But when you decide to take a look beneath the surface, that is when you see all the same genres people lump anime with within anime, they start to see it for what it is, a medium to tell all kinds of stories. Sadly there is a lot of hot garbage to wade through so don't get discouraged since this is such a high quality first step. But it is cliché to say that if you haven't found one you like then you just haven't found it yet, there are so many out there and such a wide variety that it is unfair to lump all anime under an umbrella as "this is cringe" or "for kids", because there are absolutely anime for younger audiences. Then there is Berserk.

So as this is my favorite series of all times and this is a brand new reaction ill do the obligatory setup for everyone that people give. 1. AVOID EVERYTHING in comments and messages people are assholes and will try to spoiler everything, get a mod or just don't look at anything. 2. All questions will be answers if you feel like it overloaded wirh em and tired of it have no fear. 3. If you are cinfused on something that is revealed i would try and get someone who knows the show well enough, and you trust to not spoil it and explain it to ya. 4.if you do not see "to be continued" at the end ther WILL be something extra at the credits. 5. The mid show cards are fairly important as they give expanded explanations in things in the show. 6. And kinda the most important while this very very highly regarded as one of the best stories out there of all time, it is still very much okay to not like it, don't force youself, or anything like just appease people. But other than that im super excited for you all to start this journey, it will be quite the wild ride for sure, but one thay i hope you all throughly enjoy.
