"Mary and the Witch's Flower" (definitely a "must see" if you like Ghibli!), and maybe I'll throw in a random short animation (not anime, but still neat) "The House of Small Cubes". And wow, Your Name completely shocked me, I absolutely loved it!!! It actually has everything; beautiful animation, emotional soundtrack, humour and sadness, the main characters are soooo likeable, I could go on and on. Since then, I've seen a few more anime's, and Your Name is still 100% my favourite!

You definitely need to watch Liz and the Blue Bird. Its one of my favorite films and its amazing. It was made by the same studio that made A Silent Voice and the same director. The story feels so small and yet so huge. Most of the story is told through body language and music. Its very slow but it helps the story and characters. When I originally watching I didn't think much of it, but it has stayed in my head for so long and its just an amazing film

For me so far. 1) Silent Voice 2) Wolf Children 3) Tokyo Godfathers 4) Garden of Words 5) Summer Wars 6) The Secret World of Arietty 7) A Girl Who Lept Through Time 8) Anthem of the Heart 9) Patema Inverted 10) 5cm Per Second Hosada is my favorite Director. I can't wait to see Boy and the Beast and Mirai. I need to see more Ghibli, I liked Arietty but not so much Spirited Away and Ponyo. I'm excited to see When Marine Was There and Grave of the Fireflies though.

I grew up with 5cm/sec and my heart still aches every time I hear the movie's name. In more than 10 years I've watched it only twice, and only dare to listen to the soundtrack... When others complained to me that the ending of Your name does not satisfy them, I told them to go watch 5cm/sec and have a headache and heartbreak at the same time

I literally watched most of these films and they are amazing!!! And let me tell you, whether you watched them once or twice, if you understand most of the plots of the stories or not, whether you first cried or had the feels to these movies. You can’t deny that you just need to watch them only once or twice cause these films are the most common to watch, enjoy, and to bond over them. Plus you may have more memories and moments with someone or by yourself, whether it be the animation or the characters or the music for the second time or infinite time, you’re still gonna love it and never regret watching these amazing films. 🥰 Also thank you for making this video I been waiting for so long even though it’s has been almost two weeks but it felt like forever in a good that you finally made this video and that you enjoyed some of ours favorites. Mine being A Silent Voice. Maquia, Wolf Children, etc. And I love and adore Makoto Shinkai’s work, he’s literally my favorite anime Directors as well as Hayao Miyazaki and both are inspiration for me to becoming an artist and to achieve my goals. And Yes “Your Name” will be one of his best Works and best anime film ever as well as “Spirited Away” and it’s Beautiful. And for those people who haven’t watched these or starting to watch anime, I Highly Recommend theses as well!!! Also I’m loving your channel and your amazing person by the way! 😁😍🥰

I haven’t seen many other people talking about this one, but weathering with you is a amazing movie. It’s directed by Makoto Shinkai, and it’s fairly recent (I believe it came out earlier this year) and as usual the animation is stunning. I don’t remember the story line very well, but it’s about a runaway boy who meets a girl who it appears can control the weather. Definitely recommend it! :)

@@CristobalMoonlight2001 just curious, do you like Big Fish & Begonia mainly cause of the concept (&lore) + characters or because of the story? But visuals were awesome, concept was nice, i just wish Chun interacted with Kun more (before all the main stuff happened). Others beat me to it but Summer Wars - online auctions affecting the real world, ghibli style heartwarming. Family, Sci-Fi Hoshi No Koe (Voice From A Distant Star) - teenagers separated, love and distance, Mecha, Sci-Fi Paprika - If you liked Inception, this is better. Ghost In The Shell - The reason why The Matrix even exists. Read Richard Dawkins' A River Out Of Eden to really blow your mind. Blood - the original film, not series. Aged well for it's time, multicultural Vampire hunter. Feels like living in Okinawa. Perfect for Halloween !

I want to add a movie to the list: Penguin Highway Penguin Highway is a fun movie where we follow this really smart and pragmatic kid who is obsessed with the idea of being a great man when he grows up. One day, all of the sudden, something weird started to happen: penguins started to appear in his town. So now, this kid takes this mistery as a challenge to prove he's more than prepared to be a grown adult by solving why are the penguins here. It is a really fun and cute movie, maybe not the best, but is a interesting experience. As a lot of anime movies, this movie gets weirder and weirder but in a fun way. The ending song is beautiful. And talks a lot about how we grow up, how a child's creativity can take you anywhere and how we, as humans, are scientists by nature.

I watched Maquia this July. My first impression was it's a sad teenage romantic love story but, I was shocked when I found out it was about motherhood. When I'm almost at the end of the movie, I thought it was sad but not the type of sad that I'm gonna cry. Oh man, I was wrong. The part after the war when Maquia decided to leave and Ariel shouted "Please don't leave, mom!" I started crying. Even after the movie was done, my tears kept falling down. It was such a good movie.

My favorite non-Ghibli anime movies (in roughly descending order): -A Silent Voice -Wolf Children -Penguin Highway -Liz and the Blue Bird -Garden of Words -5cm Per Second -Your Name -Hotarubi no Mori e -The Girl Who Leapt Through Time -The Tale of Princess Kaguya -Colorful -The Night is Short, Walk on Girl -Okko's Inn To be honest I had trouble with I Want to Eat Your Pancreas and Weathering With You, and feel like they're a bit overrated. As a med student I didn't feel like the former movie portrayed pancreatic cancer very well, the plot and relationship felt a bit all over the place, and the reference to The Little Prince (one of my favorite stories) felt a bit shallow and not very well thought out. And as someone who's done a lot of climate change activism, I just don't feel like the ultimate message of Weathering With You was helpful in this day and age...The other meh one was Fireworks - I really wanted to like it because I loved the original live action movie, and it was okay, but not spectacular. Oooh and Flavors of Youth - I also wanted to like it because it was a Chinese anime that held a lot of resonance for me in terms of the scenes of my youth, but the storytelling felt kind of meh and amateur-ish. And finally, A Whisker Away was super super cute but also left something to be desired in terms of its actual message. (It's funny, I think these are all movies that I felt like I should have liked, but was just super disappointed by - must be the high expectations.) Other movies I want to watch: Maquia, Ride Your Wave, Lu Over the Wall, Anthem of the Heart, In This Corner of the World, Summer Wars, Perfect Blue/other Satoshi Kon films, other Makoto Shinkai films.

@@athenacaye678 Yeah! I think the original live action movie was actually pretty good though - felt like a surreal daydream of adolescence. It’s just in the anime they made the entire thing have a supernatural twist, which kind of destroyed the emotional weight of the original movie. In the original the implication that all of the things that happened the second time around can never happen, and it was a story of regrets and coming to terms with it, not “fixing mistakes” so to speak.

Millennium Actress - I felt was so sad seeing her life move through her career but it was fascinating Wolf Children - Made me cry I still wonder how she copes alone The Girl Who Leapt Through Time - I had so many questions by the end and wondered how much their relationship changed as a result. The Live action version is also interesting The Boy and the Beast - moving and sweet at the same time Silent Voice - Incredibly powerful and a very moving film, i was fascinated by the Japanese sign language too Your Name - Another one that made me cry and had so many interesting events, ancient and present that had so much meaning Have you seen: Brave Story Children Who Chase Lost Voices In This Corner of the World Patema Inverted Legend of the Millennium Dragon Summer Wars The Magic Tree House
