This series really shows the difference between being kind and just being harmless. Inuyashiki , the protagonist, chose to do good and tried to not hurt anyone or abuse his power even though he very much could. Whereas Hiro is just a straight up psychopath who is choosing to live out every intrusive thought he's ever had. Showing that he was always a budding serial killer deep down who was just harmless because he didn't actually have the *power* to act on his fantasies Power doesn't corrupt, it reveals.

"At this point you gotta wonder what even is the point of the show? And the answer is simple. No one knows." Jokes aside Imma be honest I thought the point of it was to show the comparisons and dichotomy of what 2 opposing personalities who were given this crazy "ultimate power" would do with said power. The old man who, despite leading a very shitty life, still after given the power only wanted to help people. Mend old relationships, help those in need, heal the sick. Then there's of course Hiro who lead a very simple school life up to the point he got his powers and is still quite young and immature, ends up going on an insane psychopathic power trip to live out some kinda sick and twisted power fantasy. Young v old, immature v mature, psychopathy v empathy. It has been years since I've seen the show so I don't remember the details but I think this was kinda like, y'know the point.

@aaronwrighton22719 ай бұрын
I know nux is making jokes but the show is really deep and has a pretty clear point. It's about what you choose to do with power and valuing life in general versus valuing lives only close to you. And its about what it means to be human. Essentially the reason the boy kills is to feel something. The reason the old man saves lives is to feel something. They both find value and joy in using thier powers in the way they do. But hiro sees himself as a protagonist experimenting with his powers and sense he doesn't care about people outside those close to him he sees nothing wrong with killing people. While Inyuski cares about innocent regular people.

12:11 In Inuyashiki both, protagonist and antagonist, have an existential crisis due to their mechanical transformation, they do not have human stimuli or limitations and in principle both even believed they had lost the capacity for emotion, this made them both desperate. The thing is that the antagonist discovered that he could appeal to his human part by doing horrible things, while the protagonist discovered that he could connect with that part by doing good acts. Neither the protagonist nor the antagonist are good or bad in their actions, they do them out of selfishness to continue feeling human, at least that's how it was in the beginning for both of them. From there comes the initial motivation to become a serial killer, simply taking his ability to hurt to the extreme to reaffirm his humanity.

Never let the writer of GANTZ cook. Bro knows how to write the shadows of psychology. Hiro is a textbook antisocial sociopath. He's able to form bonds and act counter to his own whims, making him not a psychopath, and acts in accordance to whatever path he thinks will most benefit him. If they left him alone during his post-nut Jesus arc, everything wouldve been totally different.

Even though we never get an explanation to *why* Hiro starts killing people outside of *"he wants to"* , if I had to take a guess it because he's *lashing out* His parents are split up with his mom being miserable and his dad having a whole other family, seemingly being completely content with moving on. So it makes sense that, given that he's obviously got psychopathic tendencies on top of that, he felt genuine resentment for these families for having a life he didn't. Hell, same with the two kids. His best friend literally just cut all ties with him earlier that day and then he sees these 2 kids, who are obviously friends and, again, he lashes out. That's just *my* interpretation tho

50:37 and problem I have is that they could have made that ending somewhat redeeming if they made two changes the first being not have him kill a random family of four for no apparent reason because the second family if you look into it there’s a reason because hero just lost who we can assume is his only friend so even if he’s not showing he’s clearly pissed so every minor annoyance is setting him off and then after that he sees two friends run by him reminding him what he’s just lost which also sets him off so while it might not be a good reasoning there’s still a reasoning and the second change is making it so that the girl and her grandmother actually die because them living makes him declaring war in Japan less of a mass slaughter done out of anger and instead more of a senseless slaughter caused by disproportionate anger because he already got his revenge on the people who were directly responsible like the police are not gonna fuck with you again there’s no need to wipe out the whole country if they instead made it so that the girl and the grandmother died then that part would have made sense because even though it’s still disproportionate anger it would make seem less petty in nature and more him lashing out at the world for taking everything from him even though he technically did it to himself
@HomuncPumpkin9 ай бұрын
And the other reason why I feel like the first family murder should be removed and the second should be kept is because the first one just immediately makes hero unapologetically off the jump which I don’t like because besides that scene the shows actually does a pretty good job of showing the slow progression of a serial killer cause if you disregard that scene he starts of with animal cruelty and reckless endangerment then goes on to murder but the murder is somewhat justified then he goes in to commit more murders out of frustration and anger then he stops for a bit until things start going wrong and his mom dies so then he starts killing out of anger again even if some of the killing are somewhat justified then once he’s gotten it out of his system he stops again until stuff starts going wrong again so he then goes for vengeance again and if you make it so that they die he then goes to commit two senseless massacres simply because he’s given up and that’s what I feel like should have happened they should have had him work he’s way up to the senseless slaughter not have him do it from the get go because before that seen they already planted the seeds that this guy was not right in the head if gives you an inkling when he first kills the crow not enough to set of warning alarms but enough to get you tense to make you a little concerned by what he’s gonna do next just to get rid of all that tension by having just fuck around with a bunch of Best Buy employees so then you start thinking that this kid’s just some rambunctious teen who’s dicking around with his new powers all so that your more shocked by him just randomly causing several car accidents just cause he thought it would be fun it does great job of putting you into the shoes of his friend and adds this layer of suspense but then they just kill all that suspense by having him just kill four people for no reason they had him go from committing reckless endangerment to random indiscriminate slaughter the set the bar so far away from where it was like yeah it’s shocking but it also just makes it feel like you just skipped to the end of the story like it makes you feel like hero’s story should have just ended there because where else are you supposed to go from here because it feels like they tried to make a villain who was just evil because he’s evil but they failed miserably because they not showed him having a normal life before that and because that type of villain only really works if the character is just insane because when a character like mahito or the joker kill or torture people they don’t just do it because they can they do it because they’re taking some form of pleasure in it but at the beginning of the series hero does it just because he can and although that makes him scary it makes him feel less like a villain and more like a force of death and despair and in doing so takes away his humanity and makes all the scenes where the story tries to humanize him feel cheap
