I don't get it whenever people say they don't understand why others like anime. That's like saying you don't understand why people like television. Anime comes in countless genres: horror, action, romance, gore, supernatural, sci-fi. Everything, just like tv. Most of the anime that people have heard of are older ones that have tediously long plots and are directed to a lower age group. But honestly, I find some anime voices are annoying because the voice actors are bad. There are only a few decently dubbed anime. The rest I watch in Japanese (mostly because the ones I watch haven't been dubbed yet).

And some of the voices are annoying because the dubbers have to repeat a similar translation in an already formed animation, whereas in regular animation creation the art is formed according to the voice actors and how they say their lines.
