So fun fact time! Before this battle aired, Popeye (yes, the actual Popeye!) on his Twitter responded to the upcoming episode, saying he wasn’t worried at all. And after the episode aired, he did give respect to Saitama, saying he put up a good fight. Soundtrack for this fight is called “Balderdash” by Brandon Yates.

If you didn't know this yet, Death Battle currently has a Kickstarter campaign up and running to help them fund the new episodes. A few months back, their parent company Rooster Teeth shut down, forcing the show to go indie, which is why they need this money. I will say it is a bit of a misconception that Saitama is a “gag” character. Characters like Popeye, Arale, and Bugs Bunny are gag characters. They can do pretty much anything as long as it’s funny. Saitama on the other hand is a parody character, he’s menat to make fun of the normal tropes in shonen anime. He’s more similar to something like Spaceballs than actual gag characters. And unlike gag characters he can’t just do anything, he’s still bound by the rules of his world.

I disagree. Since Saitama’s existence is literally based off of a gag, he is a gag character. There is a difference between gag characters and characters that do gags

@@LeviathanGamer799 Then what's the gag? He kills people with One Punch? His fight with Boros is proof enough that it isn't a gag because it took more than one punch to defeat Boros. Or are you gonna say Boros has anti-gag powers like Beerus? I'll say this right now, that isn't a thing. And the "gag" of him defeating enemies in one punch is actually sad if you paid attention to the story. Saitama became strong, yes but he was bored, depressed and a husk of a man because he can't experience the thrill of battle. The first few times it happened it was funny but after the episode where he dreamt of fighting the Subterranean People it was painfully clear that it was not funny but sad.

If I had to choose one episode to recommend, it would easily be Bill Cipher VS Discord. There are plenty of amazing episodes, but in my opinion that one stands head and shoulders above all others.

Deadpool vs Mask is now one you definitely need to do, though I would say do Deadpool vs Pinky Pie first as it shows the escalation between Deadpool and Wiz & Boomstick

Ah, the episode no one expected nor really wanted, but my God, it was PEAK. Anyway, Season 7! Often considered the worst season of modern Death Battle (and it’s easy to see why, with half of its episodes including a Marvel and/or DC character), but it’s pretty solid, I’d say. The matchup lineup just wasn’t the best. Highlights time! -Miles Morales vs. Static Shock -Leonardo vs. Red Ranger Jason -Genos vs. War Machine -Goro vs. Machamp -Cable vs. Booster Gold -Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Kakashi -Beerus vs. Sailor Galaxia (though I’m not sure if you can find it on KZbin… copyright was a BITCH to this episode) -Flash vs. Sonic (if only to see just how f*cking NUTS the Archie Sonic comics were) -Winter Soldier vs. Red Hood (the second live action fight and a million times better than the first one!) -Venom vs. Crona -Sabrewulf vs. Jon Talbain -Red vs. Blue (but you’ve already seen that) -Hulk vs. Broly

So, since you consistently referenced the manga throughout this video, it’s worth noting that this episode came out a few weeks before Saitama's first battle with Garou in the manga. While the battle in the webcomic had been concluded for some time, the manga had (relatively speaking) followed the webcomic faithfully enough up to that point. That stopped with the Garou fight. Virtually every insane feat, shot, and attack seen in that manga fight never occurred in the webcomic, and it was the first time ever that Saitama had been shown to have the potential to gain strength mid-fight. So, not that it changes the results, it should be acknowledged that this show had no way of knowing all the crazy things that would happen to Saitama in just a few weeks.

This episode just proves how broken Toon characters are. If a character utilizes Toon Force, they are pretty much an unkillable god. As long as they find it funny, they can do whatever they want and cannot be stopped/killed unless they fully choose to be.

First of all I don't know if your weak....so let's not be that, 2nd Popeye was created during the times of depression(gap between ww1 & ww2) plus spinach was cheap and effective....funny fact....when I showed my nephew the Popeye series he enjoyed eating spinach raw.... trouble was you can't eat it from a veggie store till you have washed it off

Popeye isn't even really *that* strong, it's just that Saitama is actually very weak. His theoretical *peak* is infinite 3D. The manga represented his strength in an exponential growth chart which means his starting strength has to be a finite value, and due to the nature of exponential growth and infinity it would take an infinite amount of time for him to reach one infinity of strength. Dragon Ball characters like Goku reach 5D which is two stacked hierarchical infinities above the theoretical peak of Saitama, and most comic characters reach infinite stacked infinities - or even beyond (I.E. aleph null, transfinite cardinality, conceptual/narrativistic transcendence).

That's more than enough proof for higher dimensions existing since last time I checked ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO DEPICT HIGHER SPATIAL DIMENSIONS. Does DC have infinite spacial dimensions? Theres only been statements. Show me a single series where higher dimensions aren't just statements.
