Game is super simple as long as you just realize most "system" mechanics are just derivatives of the same mechanics in other games. Especially if you've played GG. You have FD/FD break but without as much meter management You have a single 50 meter RC You have a simple, single Burst You have universal reversal with OD You have a dead angle/push block Don't need to think any harder than that to play the game. Game is so simple at its core, idk why people pretend it's rocket science. All the extra shit does not matter unless you want to sweat, and you'll learn it anyway just by playing the game.

Pls pls pls keep making these guides Jiyuna! As an old, rather decent back in the day skullgirls player, learning the basics in any fighting game goes SOOOOO FAR. Its useless reading and watching most “beginner” tutorials because most players cant win at higher level with basic gameplans... but YOU can thats why your beginner stuff is so good. Its actually beginner stuff... but its also actually strong. If I could make a suggestion... do one of these on all the simple characters... jin, mai/may X n etc. it would be super useful to have some of this for the complicated characters as well, like an effective/ simple strat for playing arakune or rachel or litchi... would be amazing to allow players to get their feet wet with the characters without getting their heads bashed in too hard on day 1.

This is on point. I've been playing him for a couple days now without looking at any guides aside from in game challenges and I've been playing EXACTLY the same way, from blockstring resets, to run up dp, down to the exact same combo. He's really easy to pick up.

As you pointed out, while you *can* do insane 4k meterless midscreen dash cancel combos... Naoto doesn't need it. And even then, he does great damage with semi-optimal stuff instead of fully optimal stuff. Here's three combos I like to use: Midscreen: Dashing starter, EnRekkaB>dc>En623C>whiff j.2c>5B>2C>h.jc>j.B>j.C>jc>j.B>j.C>623D, 2C 3.2k damage, 20ish meter Corner: 5B or 6A starter>5C>3C>Slash Kaid>Microdash 5B>EnRekkaB>dc>EnKaid>2C>h.jc>j.C>jc>j.C>Drive DP, 2C 3.4kish damage, 27 meter Corner Grab: Grab>2C>5D>2D>214A>dc>2C>5D>2D>6D>RekkaB 3.5k damage, 25 meter And know what? None of this needs stuff like standing dash Rekka or anything else I would say is super hard. Naoto's fundamentals and normals and specials are all fantastic and his damage is consistently high. And all of the combos I listed have easy points where you can sub out a Divine Smasher for 4K damage if you want it, which is good since Naoto doesn't really need meter to mix well. His pressure is simple but scary, his mix is overall solid, and his neutral is really good with enhanced Rekka and Drive DP. I wouldn't say he's brainlessly easy if you want to do his normal combos, but I feel like people play up his execution requirements way too much. He really isn't that hard.

Assuming that people still are watching this video, I'd like to say that using 3S, 214D, Dash A Certain Distance, into 6S, it will crossup and lead to another combo. If you practice it enough you can make it almost completely ambiguous to which side you will hit from.

One of the things i love to do with naoto is abusing is op af 214a, the only thing that can hit you when you 214a is lows and grabs, you dodge everything else, including some supers, so, if you can read your opponent a little bit, you can predict his movement, dodge his attack with 214a and then do 8a and do a full air combo. do a couple of those and then they will be scared of coming from air. also really important is, naoto can chain a grab after he hits with A, so if you corner your opponent or if ur really close to them you can do a a-grab to surprise them, or do a couple overheads and then do that. (The grab after the blocked A will be a blue combo tho) also, if you start your combo with A and want to do a good deal of damage, you can do a-a-b-c-3c-dp-2c for exactly 2k (if you add 2a or 2b you will deal less dmg) Also, when you finish your air dp 2c, you can land a grab just as you are landing, most of the time works, and if they predict it and try to cancel your grab, you have a really high chance of getting a throw reject miss.

As a Naoto player... Yeah this is a very good guide, glad to see I'm not the only person calling out 99% of Naoto players as frauds (myself included)... Forgive me if I missed it though but... I’m learning to do my best to ignore what people say is hard, because I’ve always thought “I have no intention of ever winning a tournament”. I’m just doing short combos and learning how to win neutral and that wins me enough matches and gives me that satisfying feeling of learning the part that’s fun to me: actually interacting with the other person using/blocking mixups and breaking pressure. I used to be that scrub in Street Fighter doing like 3-hit vortexes and calling it a day. Do I have to make the other person fail 50% more guesses? Sure… but it works enough to be a solid middle-of-the-pack player, and to me, anything better than getting perfected every match feels pretty fun. I’m going to have to jump in and try some of this stuff with Naoto to see if I like him. He looks a little too generic anime to me to want to switch off Azrael long-term, but he looks sort of fun.
