Ky definitely seems more focused on neutral on this game, even though he seemingly has more tools, such as dp followup. But then again, Xrd Ky has YRC so they can afford be stupid anytime they have 25% meter, so I guess that checks out.

Well, FRC Dust Stunt Edge to the air was still there. Also, his OTG thunder yield a combo after FRC (25% tension) so they are the same anyway. Even though he didn't have amplifier like Xrd, he still had Force Break Oki.

when i play Ky, it feels like im able to act with intention more than the other characters i've messed with. he has a tool for every situation and a simple enough gameplan (knockdown, stun edge oki, repeat) that i feel like i have more breathing room to read and react. when i play a character like Anji, it often feels like im just throwing out mixup strings at random and getting lost in the sauce, but with Ky i feel like i'm always in the driver's seat. it can feel difficult to open people up since he has no crazy mixups or gimmicks, but i feel like im improving the most at GG in general by playing him.

Fighting game fans should stop capping like we want dry games. - People said Xrd had too much mechanical bloat and oki dense gameplay now both are excessively toned down - People said defense was too weak in Dragon Ball FighterZ now UI Goku rules the meta - People said MKXL was a 50/50 fest but now want to praise custom variations in MK11 when it opens up new 50/50's and safe pressure JUST like MKXL. People don't know what they want until it's gone lol. That said Ky IS an excellent way to learn Guilty Gear since his core moves are familiar to any fan of fighting games.

Low level dbfz players dont know how strong defence in season 3. And that tournament is online which some character got hurt by it except ui goku. You completlly see something wrong when there is a lot of vegito, gogeta and goku black in tournament . But lack of gotenks and basegeta. Online and offline can make huge different. In gbvs season 1, when we thought zeta is top tier thanks to her pogo and good button. All of that got destroyed in offline. Her pogo become reactable and her normal actually bad then she become low tier. And katalina is complete opposite. We thought that she is bad after her nerf but in offline , she become top tier . I was definitely wondering where all the greed sever was until that moment. Greed sever is one of those moves that I feel like should never hit anyone, but it hits all the time. It's the most telegraphed overhead moves ever, but somehow 50% of the time, it works everytime.

Ky can be all up in your face for a long time. Me and CVK (Castlevania Ky Steve H) play Sol vs Ky matches and the amount of bullshit mixups he can come up with are damn near endless, and almost akin to lockdown vs the Badguys. With both Sols (I think, not completely sure with Order Sol), Ky can focus on doing nothing but trading with you as Sol's gameplay doesn't allow for him to get much of shit off anything other than clean reads - there's not many situations where he gets the beneficial end of a trade, and his combos are completely ruined by them. His jumping slash reaches so far low that it can even beat out Sol's standing k if he times for it. You said that this Ky player is being safe.... He's just afraid of you. He could be extremely aggressive if he knew he could.

My favorite setup for Ky is to score a knockdown with vapor thrust and then do FRC lightning strike. After the FRC, you do an empty jump j.S, and then do a meaty dust. 100% success rate, the MVP special. God I love ACR.

Ky had no grinders and a lot of fb moves are very fast and safe, while his are mostly defensive, so he has to play it safer.

You wanna 2D under those stunedges in neutral, helps with the MU a bunch. Also when you get an air hit and your fire is at lvl 2 or more, air hit 5H>236K will almost always combo (unless they're too high up or the combo is too prorated) so don't bother going for the IAD combo in that situation, just go into 236K for knockdown and an action charge or more combos in the corner since lvl 2 236K air hit always links to 5K and 2D and whatnot near the corner.

@@purifyws no one is really bad in xrd, but you still had characters better than others, making the others not as good. Even Pot and Slayer could so stuff, but pretty much everyone said they were low or low mid.

@@HefeP There are a lot more possible/that you can do in +R as compared to Xrd. The speed of the game added to the system being so open makes it such that anything can happen. I would say that while top tier isn't more oppressive in Xrd, the weaker characters are stronger in +R because of so much being available. Even the "worst" characters (like Ky) have access to every tool they ever had in the XX series and then some. In Xrd, Ky has about half of his moves and a much more "this is how you play the character" style as opposed to being open and varied, and that goes for a lot of the Xrd characters. There's an established, "best" way to play each of them, and some of those "best" ways are just worse than the other characters'. In +R, the player's options and means of expression are huge, and the speed + damage make it so that even a "bad" character can constantly blow you up even at high level. They're all hella cheap as opposed to Xrd having its established archetypes and moreso coloring within the lines. Xrd is still GG and still crazy/unique per character, but not with +R's level
