Definitely try the original OVA, I saw Guyver II: Dark Hero as a kid and am watching the OVA and this show over the weekend back to back.

This is one of the best anime’s ever and so over looked. I used to have the full series on blu ray but I lost them. I am watching the entire series now that was basically crammed in the Blu rays. Are these blu ray uploads? So far it seems identical but I haven’t watched this masterpiece in close to 8 years. Thanks for uploading.

@Matthew Lozano Guyver is good but the 80’s one that Manga did is the best. Fist Of The North Star (Hokuto No Ken) is right there with Guyver. I think the original Guyver came in 1989.

@@JohnnyProctor9 15 years ago is a pretty long time ago a ton of things have changed....everyone has cell phones that are mini computers, people buy tickets for stuff online on a regular basis all cars got bluetooth or aux cord plug ins we have had 3 president terms in America yugioh created like 10 new ways to summon monsters everyone has a GPS music players like iPods are useless now only idiots and people who really have extra money get cable these days because of all the streaming apps and robots are getting closer to becoming like the robots in the movies

@@PatternLand - Not that long in the grand scheme of things, nearly everyone still had flip-phones and was texting 15 years ago as well. Online shopping was still a thing, aux plugins were standard in cars, and everyone had GPS, and iPods have simply been replaced by iPhones...

Sho’s lost memory is much better handled in this show. The OVA is more soap opera psychodrama and this is more trope real trauma adjacent in comparison. It’s still exaggerated but not so overdone. I don’t think there’s a bad Aptom overall, he’s been a solid secondary antagonist in the manga and both adaptations.

Great Anime. An improvement over the first series. The '80s were cool, but sometimes unnecessarily bloody or perverted. In this, they put more emphasis on writing character arcs and making the story more engaging.

I do agree with you TheBleach1983. However, the only pro of this rendition is that it's more in detail within the storyline from the Mangas of the 1980s. The gore and the violence along with the voice acting in the US Renditions OVA was way more epic.

This version has absolutely nothing on the 1989 version in spite of an obviously larger budget. The character designs are terrible, the animation is tacky, overly fluid and cartoonishly bright, the dialogue is corny and juvenile, the voice actors are generic and shitty, the amazing music is absent, and the show fails to capture any of the emotive power and sense of real tragedy that follows the Guyver like the original did. It's just like DBZ Super compared to the original DBZ - a poor imitation of the real thing done by people who aren't as skilled and don't know how to properly execute the concepts of its story.
