10 years. It has been 10 years already since Guilty Crown has aired. And I still fondly remember these good old times. The legendary OP "My Dearest" by supercell, the epic Soundtrack "Bios" from Hiroyuki Sawano, the tragic story of Inori and Shu... to put it in another words: Without Guilty Crown, Animenz would be very different indeed. And to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Guilty Crown, I decided to revisit Bios again - after 9 long years And here we are now: The definite, final chapter of my Guilty Crown piano arrangements. Thank you for listening!

Bravo music Animenz, I do see the music reflects the Guilty Crown anime, but the changes of some parts are quite confusing anyway... 0:53 Shu met Inori and get the ability 2:17 attended the fight and uses his skill 3:27 Shu was rescued and came into the highest moment 4:33 Government set and crown is worn 5:13 Found the Paid of the ability and Jun was killed, 5:35 Shu want to carry all the 'hates' with him and started to useability so he became alone and lost all his friend 6:44 Shu and Inori dies with beauty

Here's something I always wanted to tell you: my little brother and I were both huge fans of yours since our childhood years. About 6 or 7 years ago, the parent of a classmate of my brother's happened to be your agent at the time. You were kind enough to gift us 2 signed copies of your CD, which I still have with me to this day after having moved twice: once across the ocean to the US, and once across the country. That was an absolutely wonderful gift for the 2 of us and it gave us the motivation to continue practicing the piano even today, and it was never because it was what our parents wanted, but because we had a deep passion for it. All this is to say, thank you so much for being my childhood idol. Heck, I still look up to you today. My biggest regret was how I wasn't able to meet you in person like my brother did since I was traveling. Hope I get to meet you one day!

Bios is such an important piece for me. Your original arrangement still represents a line of irreplaceable staples that mark my entire view on anipiano. The colossal octave jumps are still one of my favourites to this day. It definitely reminds me of La Campanella jumps but even more satisfying. It's always a fun challenge of whether I'll hit them all or not. Excited to see this!

There were so many amazing moments in this arrangement, but 4:34 takes the cake. Just the clarity in the voices and how beautifully it all comes together is simply breathtaking to me. And at 4:40 when the left hand melody takes the main stage the right hand almost feels like it's echoing off into the distance... then comes back with the same raw emotion that the original singer projected in the very next bar. This was absolutely stunning, a classic for sure.

Animenz, I just had my first piano jury in school. I bombed my sightreading portion. Being able to hear your new version of Bios is the best thing that could've happened to me right now. Your music is the reason I got myself here in the first place. It feels good to be reminded that there is music that I love that's not necessarily what I'm doing in school. I'm a composition student now and Sawano is probably the most influential composer for me. I love his works. And I love your arrangements of them. In fact, I recently arranged your version of Blumenkranz for a chamber orchestra as one of my finals. Keep up the good work, you truly are amazing.

This version is much more mature than his first cover of bios. The slow part in start really feels like epilogue of a story. After that the fast playing feels like reminiscing of past battle and memories. Then he play slow again, ending the story. Amazing work as always animenz. Thank you for this epilogue of guilty crown.

Yes, the sheet music is out! I have been listening to this almost constantly since the premiere, and I'm loving it more and more with each repeat. Bios has been one of my favorite arrangements of yours of all time, and also one of the first ones I tackled. The key change in this one gives it such a fresh feeling! Like I can experience it all over again. Then, I'm also so glad it's so long!! Almost 8 minutes and yet I still found myself wanting to hear more when the premiere finished haha, but if it were up to me, I'd never have enough. The intro and outros make it feel so grand, and when the original finally hits...chills. And so, so much nostalgia. Can't wait to learn it, I can already tell that this is one of those videos I'll be coming back to a lot for many, many years to come.

I'm feeling a mix of nostalgic and excited chills with this one, as a musician and as a GC OST fan, marveling at every little detail that's gone into this re-imagined arrangement of your 2012 ver. I feel like I've just witnessed the 10 years of polishing of a raw musical stone into a truly shining diamond in less than 10 minutes. What I love so much is that it retains the signature rhythmic technicality of the 2012 cover, while adding so many beautiful, nuanced layers towards a much more well-rounded masterpiece. Before we get into the details, I noticed (after looking at the fingering) that this entire arrangement has been shifted up a minor third from the original C/A minor to D#/F# minor. What was the motivation behind this decision? Introduction 0:00 - the opening lines, borrowing the soft nature of Bios' cousin Krone, sets a poignant backdrop upon which the musical layers will gradually get added. It really reflects Animenz' evolution over the years towards slower intros which help set the tone for the piece. Original 2:18 - I love the way you hold the final note of the introduction section as it gradually fades into the background. The smooth and gradual tempo modulations in the transitioning 10 seconds creates the *perfect* tension and release as we ease into the signature opening motif. I also noticed some modifications to the staccato motif, ending on a descending run instead of an ascending run and going back down to the F# on the fourth note instead of the C#. One of my Top 5 Animenz Transitions TM 2:38 - *CHILLS MOMENT #1* this moment hits SO HARD. The build-up is perfectly paced (as just noted) which lends to the most satisfying hit. 2:58 - the removal of the high register arpeggiated ornaments in the opening verse line, which I'm so accustomed to hearing, actually allows the lower register to resonate more which is very nice 3:08 - the arpeggiated ornaments get shifted to this part of the verse, and get extended into a pleasant sparkling pre-chorus at 3:18. I love how high up into the uppermost registers you get on these notes 3:56 - such a masterful control and emphasis of the third hand melody in the heart of the chorus while maintaining the shining arpeggios in the RH 4:35 - *CHILLS MOMENT #2* The upper layers punch so well here while maintaining their individual separation from the other layers. Wonderful. 5:14 - interesting jazzy transition 6:33 - again the high note is held to the very last moment, shining out so brightly over the intense bass notes Outro 6:56 infusing the Animenz jazzy flare into select outro notes, but while still ending on classical style final notes. Such an interesting dichotomy! If I were to pick only one piece of musicality that stands out in this piece, it would be the intentional use of resonance across transitions and within layers. That adds so much to the cover that isn't reflected in just the selection of notes. Blessed to be living in a universe where we continue to get such nuanced and masterful Animenz covers. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

absolutely stunning. that climax at 4:34 sounded like .... an auditory meteor shower, it was so beautiful and emotional, like a last goodbye. bios delta was my personal favorite version of bios, and it was a treat to see you incorporate it in the beginning. your original bios cover was great, but this version feels so /complete/ - it just illustrates your growth and maturity as an artist. I've been subscribed to you for awhile, animenz, and I believe it was your guilty crown transcriptions that really caught my eye then and inspired me to continue playing the piano. I'm happy you chose to revisit this piece now, ten years later. your link to the official anniversary version of bios with yuki kaji was really special to include in the description, as well as your personal commentary. cheers to you, to guilty crown, and to hiroyuki sawano. 🙏

Hello Animenz! I love your music and it's amazing to see the effort you put into this new Bios re-arrangement. I would like to suggest that, taking advantage of Egoist, the band that came out with Guilty Crown, I think you could do a re-arrangement of one of the band's songs or a medley of the songs of this amazing band, even if they are not necessarily from Guilty Crown. This is because, as you know, Egoist is going to disband in October and it could be an incredible end for this band that offered us incredible songs like the Endings of Psycho-Pass, the opening of Fate:Apocrypha and others.

Recently I had a feeling of abandoning the piano. After listening to this, I broke down. This piece is so beautiful, elegant, powerful and many more. I cannot express it with just words. I am such an imbecile for ever thinking about abandoning the piano. I am so weak-willed recently and this just made me get back up on my feet. I can't thank you enough. I'm a self-taught pianist for 8 years and my progress is slow. Even though I kept practicing I just couldn't improve until I realised I've hit the wall. A giant wall reaching up to the sky, no longer able to continue my journey. But now I will continue to strive even though I've hit the wall. I will break that wall and go further beyond. Animenz inspired me to play the piano 8 years ago, and here I am, 8 years later. I will continuously support you animenz. Merry Christmas ⛄

What a transcendental arrangement. This song alone has shaped so much of my AniPiano experience as an aspiring musician on KZbin, and to see you evolve the piece like this ... it's just so awesome. The way you tell such a huge story with each section is to me one of my favorite parts about this as well. All the little parts add up (the key change, the 3 - hand technique, and those DYNAMICS). I could write another hour on those dynamics alone, they're so good. I still recall being in elementary school and coming across the first Bios piece you played. I have been playing the piano for almost my whole life and it was that very video that actually sparked my passion for playing the piano. I can't thank you enough for being an inspiration and icon to me since then. I'm sure that many other kids, just like me, were forced into taking up piano lessons by their parents and perhaps, were never truly interested in this instrument till they came across your videos. Your videos have gotten me through so many exams and study sessions and I'm sure they will continue to do so. Well I think I am going to say that 2:17 - 2:37 is by far the most impressive part of the piece for me. Not any of the 3 hand, but the beginning of the "original." First, the accelerando sounds so epic it's literally like a machine starting up(don't forget him holding the last note from the previous section for the manual reverb, but keeping the staccato of that bass!) Then, after that, he somehow slows down the left hand pattern while continuing to build tension with it by using the pedal and super well placed 16ths in the left hand. I didnt even notice that it was a much slower pattern until a few listens into it. I still don't fully understand how on earth that works. It is somehow the same pattern used much later in the piece as the main left hand pattern yet here it functions as a build up and I'm still completely stunned as to how it's slower yet sounds faster than the part right before.

Animenz Arranging Breakdown with Yeh (AABY? I need a better name) 0:02 Gorgeous soft intro. I love how both parts are played by one hand at first (flex) and then another hand is added as support. To me, this helps identify each part and the entry of the LH almost feels like an added voice or new part. 0:54 MAN that hit like a full on depresso TRAIN. It went from melancholic to Depression in seconds. I can seriously feel the weight of your emotions, through the screen. Absolutely incredible. 1:23 And just when I thought it couldn't get more powerful. You literally raise the roof and add an extra height of depth. I can picture the top ringing chords as a bell like sound that resonates above the melody. 2:17 as you said in chat "and so... it has awakened" What a magical moment! Especially for those who recognize the song, it's apparent that the buildup leads to regular tempo bios. I find that the F# minor chord that hangs at nearly the highest register mimics the effect of a singer holding their note really well; the left hand that plays both the bass and counter melody sneak in really well as well. (Reminds me of how you arranged Kaibutsu second verse) 2:48 I must admit, I was expecting the jumps spanning up to 2 octaves that were in your original arrangement. But this is definitely a more refined version that features a third accompanying voice. As I compared the original jumps to la campanella like jumps (although in octaves), it would've been more appropriate to compare the original to Chopin, in which case this almost feels like a Godowsky-Chopin etude where the jumps are still there but now in the left hand with added difficulty. (Otherwise lots of Grand Escape final chorus + Crying for rain vibes!) 3:08 In the RH although the pattern is quite common (among your arrangements), it actually reminds me of the one you used in Everlasting Guilty Crown... GC reference in a GC arrangement? GCception?? 3:36 Nothing but pure bliss. Seriously... The F#m choice over the original Aminor (for the chorus) is very interesting here. I find A minor much more sorrowful and this F#m sounds almost slightly hopeful! The downwards glissando to introduce the section feels like such a 2020-2021 Animenz move HAHA. I also thought that it would be impossible to feature a three hand technique in the chorus (while maintaining a constant LH rhythm) but you created the impossible once again. Part 2 later I guess edit: I just realized, I think you played BIOS in this key for a live stream before :ooo

It'd be nice to hear you play that song again, after a decade of skill improvement!

Now I'll just have to wait for Animenz to cover every Sawano Hiroyuki produced anime song. Notable mentions of this year is 86. This was one heck of a nostalgia trip and made me want to re-watch it again for I think the 4th or 5th time now over the years. The OST alone from this series elevated the entire show to another level. If it was just some generic OST I doubt GC would be as a cult favorite as it is today. Thank you for all your hard work, you have done this cover justice, encapsulating the exact same feelings I felt the first time I heard this BGM.

I really like how the audio of your newer videos captures the clean sound of the piano compared to the older ones 5 - 6 years ago. I don't know if it is only me, but I can hear the subtle difference

βίος is a slightly fancy word for life in Greek, usually referring to the events that make up a specific person's life. I believe that this piece represents that perfectly

Thank you for sharing this high tech Bios~ I’m surprised and impressed with this arrangement. I have been following Animenz for almost 6 years and only saw his live performance in 2017. But it’s ok. We fans can hear his beautiful music on KZbin. Wow! It’s been 6 years. Time is really fast... Hope there will be 86 -Eighty Six- ED2 Avid and Vivy -Fluorite Eye's Song all the songs in the future. I am really looking forward how Animenz will improvise them. Maybe 2022 or 2023 because he is so BusyXD

As a hobby pianist i really enjoy learning your arrangements. I cant even practice and learn as fast as you arrange :D ..but your songs are so changeable and kind of refreshing next to classical pieces. Even better when i knew the anime before or watch it afterwards :). Pls keep on!

Guilty crown is one of the few shows that had a profound effect on me. When I rewatched it again as an adult for the 10 year anniversary, all of the emotions came flooding back to me. I love the whole soundtrack for the show. My favorite is of course My Dearest, but all the songs are great including this one :)

The original arrangement definitely marked the beginning of your golden era of the experimental anipiano style back then, and it's amazing to see almost a decade later how your style has become refined and matured over time. The GC soundtrack has aged like wine for sure (the anime...not so much)

Guilty Crown's OST is great. Definitely in a different league from the story itself which I've mostly forgotten. I still regularly listen to this track.

Since there's no upload yet, I'm listening to old tracks. I love how your music just speaks to me "Don't give up just yet." You and your music are loved, Animenz. Special mention to the build-up from 2:18 to 2:38. My fave part
