I'll give you a serious answer. This is Animusic, a computer-driven video album created by an animator named Wayne Lytle. Wayne wrote a piece of software called MIDIMotion that basically allows a computer to more "accurately" render a digital instrument playing music, to produce pieces like you see here. The music is almost all original. This particular piece, "Resonant Chamber," is from the second album. It really is quite impressive if you ask me. Great music too.
@cyan.63994 жыл бұрын
There were two 'albums' released on DVD of this stuff. A third one was planned, but Wayne's team collapsed, and the Kickstarter has completely ceased activity. There's a hint of life left, though: The website was completely revamped during the past year. The catalog was removed, and the website is now hosted on SquareSpace. Some FAQs and fun facts are removed. While it is a down-grade, it's still something.

After coming back to this song after many years, I am astonished. The time signatures are funky-- that 4/4 4/4 2/4 (or 10/4) phrase is quite lovely-- and the attention to detail with the bass muting hands just goes to show how much love this had. Brilliant. If anyone finds the same love, Tool is the band for you

Not many people seem to know this, but in Animusic, the music is what drives the animation. The animators put in some set parameters, then input the music. Those "legs" are essentially animating themselves, as are the other things in every other section. Personally I find it fascinating.

I'm actually imagining a fantasy race of living wood, brass, and silver machines, who live as animals do; who are born, who grow, who, hunger, who age, and who die. I'm imagining that they're artists and artisans, relying on a utilitarian elegance that seems to animate itself almost.
@scottbilger92946 жыл бұрын
That would be disappointing. I heard it was more amazing than that. I understood they had actually modelled the physics of the this instrument (or instruments) and it was producing the sound as if someone were actually playing it, not simply driving the animating from a pre-recorded track. In other words, the animation is creating the music, not the other way around.

Long ago, on a far off world, a species came to be, known as The Resonant. It possessed many limbs, many eyes, and laid a silken thread, much like that of a spider. In its early years, it fought with others of its species, for food, for territory, for survival. Then, one day, the first thread was plucked and a tone rang out across the land. Another heard this sound and thought to reproduce it, plunking its own web. Thus, the first songs were birthed and with it, the first communication among The Resonant. In time, the species came to peace, speaking through beautiful melodic tones produced through their silken threads, which were plucked and stroked. They began to work together, and technological wonders came to be. Within a millennia, The Resonant had built cities and machines to advance themselves. Times were good, but as history often teaches, a golden age can not last forever. The rapid growth of industry had left their world toxic. As years went by, fewer and fewer of their offspring were viable. The Resonant were slowly dying off as their population dwindled. The last of their kind grew old, with none to replace them and so, a final song was written. It's melody would reside high in a tower, to be a beacon for those who would come after. Within its peak, a final machine was placed, crafted with the last tree of their dying world and their silken threads. It was a song telling of their story, both as a warning and a memory. The last creation of The Resonant, to live on for all time. It's melody plays forever, in the darkness of a dead world, calling out to any who would listen...

Fun fact, in every Animusic song, all sounds are synthesized! No live performances were recorded. To me, though, that's amazing, as this was made in the early 2000's and sound recreation through software was somewhat primitive. Doesn't take the magic away at all for me! :) truly impressive.

How wonderful this is, the ability to build things such as music from the ideas created by God, so that in our harmony with Creation we may be in a small way a little more like our Creator, like a son who wears his father's shoes. That is, more or less, paraphrasing my uncle Gregg, a guitar player and woodshop owner whose musical style strongly resembles this. I will always think of him when I listen to Resonant Chamber. It brings a new warmth to the music, and it makes this piece a favorite.

Bravo! l'animation est fantastique, couleurs, points de vue, musique, un très beau travail, très poétique.
