Naofumi always ordered the cheapest food because after his betrayal by Mynes hand he couldn't taste anything anymore anyway. He did buy her the kids meal which in theory could be cheaper but in the anime, the quality looks a little better and the portion size doesn't seem to be smaller like one would expect.

It's a little bit different than a raccoon and the hair/fur colors, tails and ears would be more fitting to a tanuki and I thought they "translated" her (in german as well btw.) to raccoon because it would be more relatable to western audience. But I instantly saw a damn cute, and later after she's grown a beautiful young Tanuki-Girl in her. I guess it's a matter of taste but she's far, far away from being ugly. In my opinion, her design is quite beautiful and well done overall.

Awesome work on the presentation you did her to fill in what we didn't know, she definitely has grown and is a great character overall. Now with the series finished. I finished all the current eps of shield hero yesterday.And my favorite part was when Naofumi finally took in Rapthalia.It felt so touching seeing Naofumi taking care of Rapthalia and watching how a mentally unstable young girl become happy brings a joy in my heart.But when the part Naofumi "lost" to the spear hero I was so enraged and i felt my emotions bursting inside of me.But when Rapthalia came to say the words "I am your sword and I will follow you through flame and brimstone (sorry for mistakes but this is what I remember in the subs)".This seriously made me cry and it truly touched my heart.And im just so happy that Rapthalia was able to be blessed after through all that shit she went through and seeing that fat guy get crushed by that dragon has made me so satisfied.This is why Rapthalia will always be one of my favorite characters in fiction.

I've only recently found your channel and have caught up on the shield hero content finally and I love the quality of your videos. This being my last and favorite video because like you said, the visuals went well with the story being told. You also have a knack for story telling because you don't just state A then B then C but rather the characters feelings which I am sure are paraphrased from the source material. You speak simply, clearly and at a nice pace. There are other channels with anime content where I find myself slowing down the playback speed to 95% or even 90% because they would speak too fast throughout the video. AWESOME WORK!

I enjoy the anime for it directing and how they set up the shields before using it in battle, covering aspects of the world that makes it feels more alive, kinda getting the witcher and spice & wolf vibe. While obviously the novel version is more nuanced and gives us a greater picture into Raphtalia's psyche while enslaved, I think the adaptation did an amazing job in giving us that heart wrenching gut reaction to Rifana's death that was in prior iterations just a memory from Raphtalia's past. Altering it so that the revelation of her death happens in the PRESENT as things are popping off gave it so much more weight than the symbolic disrespect/destruction of the flag could ever have. Also her voice actress nails it. Basically I prefer cute fluffy anime daughterus over sheets of cotton.

You have one thing wrong here, Raphtalia and Rifana were not purchased. They were leased, towards the end of the chapter when Raphtalia is sent back to the slave dealer, the guards were more than a little pissed about Rifana passing as that meant that they wouldn't be getting their deposit back.

As for your future material, I'm really not sure what to tell you. Maybe I'll just start watching whatever it is you decide to choose. Afterall, this video was so marvellously narrated. I hit play very reluctantly, thinking that young Raphtalia would be a really borning and empty shell. Was I wrong!?! And I think I have your wonderful narration to thank for that. I've also looked at your other skipped content shield hero videos and I really do like them. Good work. I think Raphtalia has established herself very well in the anime and some of this skipped content would do well to make its way into a future episode that explores the dynamics between Naofumi's party. Just one comment. Naofumi didn't buy Raphtalia the cheapest meal. He bought HIMSELF the cheapest meal. He bought HER the kid's meal the other kid was eating. He treated her. Just as Weaboo said ages ago, as I just noticed. Nice summary of the story though. I started buying the translated novels when volume5 came out, and took a chance by buying all at once. Never regretted it, and started buying the manga version when it was released. Just got novel 16 and will be reading that tomorrow.

And to answer your question I prefer DanMachi season 2. Yet I didn't see the Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest, soo I don't know if it's better then danmaci 2. If it wasn't for your cut content series I would have never known that shield hero was this good. The anime started on a high note but it skipped so much and made it into a pathetic story with no depth and no consequences
