A pleasure to hear such a fine performance by an artist who really knows how to play sitar - with beauty, delicacy and intelligence. Lyle Wachovsky

Ustad ji plays a few note combinations that I thought were not allowed in Hameer such as GmPGmRS and DMG. The former is a kamod phrase and the latter is not allowed by the aarohi and avarohi. I am just a student, so I am still familiarizing myself with the rules of this raga. Why does Ustad Ji play these? Does he know the rules so well that he knows when to break them? Am I fundamentally mistaken? I am just a student who is asking out of curiosity, and am not trying to attack Ustad ji in any way.

I presume ustad Arshad knows very well about the application of particular notes used in raga Hameer. There is the practice of using of other phrases of notes showing as "Tirobhab"( i.e.vanish) and then again using the familiar phrases of notes showing as " Abirbhab"( i.e. again establishing the raga). I hv met Arshadji at my Guruji's ( Ustd. Fahimuddin Dagar) place on the ocassion of Eid. He was then a 16 yrs' boy. He is a rare artiste!

Irshad khan is not breaking any rules hameer and kamod are two ragas which have juxtaposition of many swaras Ordinary artists will always present a recital by memorising the notes and just playing like reciting a poem in a school competition but extremely talented artists while playing a raga gives glimpse of sympathetic ragas However a student csn always ask such questions

I find it the most accurate and melodious after Shri Pt. Ravi Shankar's version ❤️

I have found Vilayat khans version most romantic and melodious. The gat is Vilayat s gat which i had heard him playing in a live concert no othet hamir comes even nearby However each can have his own opinion
