I didn't like this song when I was younger because it didn't make sense. As an adult... I cry just listening to it because I understand COMPLETELY, especially since I have kids. I wish I could make their fairy tales last forever. Thank you Anita!!!

Ericka Burch Same here! Well said! “Fairy Tales” resonated years after I first heard it. The song is not only a power ballad but a powerful testimony! Timeless masterpiece! 💕
@simms3864 жыл бұрын
I don’t think the song has nothing to do with children. It’s about how the matriarchs in your family tell you, one day you will meet someone special and they will make your life better(like a Fairytale). But these women forget to tell you about the the reality of relationships and the realities of life. Just my opinion

The part when she says ..."you never came to save me , you let me stand alone out here in this wilderness out in the cold " sends chills up my arms and I I take this song so literal , as a woman coming out of homelessness and loosing during the pandemic , I learned so many hard lessons . I cant tell you the times , i sat with a man, being transparent about my situation only to be used hurt or even exploited. The making of so many broken promises about how they were here to help and support , but when i looked up 3 years later and saw I was still homeless i was like wow and ouch , no matter how much I prayed and cried for some one to genuinely want to lend a helping hand . The help never came , no wait ... I did help but it was abusive . I mean i could have had a roof over my head but at what cost . I even dated a man in real estate! and I was confused as to why he, out all people was the least to offer help . funny thing is the only people who have helped have been ALL women ) . so sweet shout outs to those women who took out the time to point me in the right direction to get the proper assistance to get back on my feet ! I use to listen to this song when i was 11 years . im now 47 and although im older I still had a long way to go concerning the truest intent of people . guess you could blame it on me being sheltered and my Nana giving me bed time stories (similar to the ones on this the song) but This song reminds to stop expecting others to be like ME ! sure I was the one who'd open my door to a well screened stranger if I thought they need to be out of the rain or offer food or at least offer guidance . but once i realized people will primarily men . will STILL see woman in her weakness but still use her to boost his ego this is why i subscribe to the " play the damsel in distress card ". because a man will "rescue " you only to discard you " thankfully I was wounded but im not broken this song is my coming out song ! and I will play on repeat once i turned the keys to my new apparent coming up soon ! . all is well and it was something I had to go thru how else would i have learned . one thing the men of my past taught me was that self preservation is key ! they made sure they would preserve their own life supply by harboring mine. signed .....These days id rather be called selfish than Naive .

I can remember stories, those things my mother said She told me fairy tales, before I went to bed She spoke of happy endings, then tucked me in real tight She turned my night light on, and kissed my face good night My mind would fill with visions, of perfect paradise She told me everything, she said he'd be so nice He'd ride up on his horse and, take me away one night I'd be so happy with him, we'd ride clean out of sight She never said that we would, curse, cry and scream and lie She never said that maybe, someday he'd say goodbye The story ends, as stories do Reality steps into view No longer living life in paradise-or fairy tales-uh No, uh-huh-mmm-mmm She spoke about happy endings, of stories not like this She said he'd slay all dragons, defeat the evil prince She said he'd come to save me, swim through the stormy seas I'd understand the story, it would be good for me You never came to save me, you let me stand alone Out in the wilderness, alone in the cold My story ends, as stories do Reality steps into view No longer living life in paradise-or fairy tales-yes I don't look for pie up in the sky, baby Need reality, now, said I Don't feel the need to be pacified, Don't cha try Honey, I know you lied You never came to save me, you let me stand alone Out in the wilderness, alone in the cold I found no magic potion, no horse with wings to fly I found the poison apply, my destiny to die No royal kiss could save me, no magic spell to spin My fantasy is over, my life must now begin My story ends, as stories do Reality steps into view No longer living life in paradise or fairy tales Eh, hey, hey-ee Lord have mercy oooh Mmm, mmm, oooh-mmm-oh Lord 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
