The beautiful Anita Baker singing "Giving you the best that I got" on the Donahue show. I can't remember what year this was. Had to be late 80's early 90's.

Everytime I look at this she makes me so proud to be a black woman. No wig, no weave, very little make-up just her natural black beauty and that amazing musical gift. She makes me feel so grateful that I was born black.

Every time I hear this song I am reminded how much women of her time and before truly loved for the men in their lives. It makes me think about our current era, where love is watered down, misused and taken for granted. I long for the days when men and women truly love again. Not that, 5 year, then I divorce you love. But the love that withstands the test of time. That 50+ year type of love. Life would be so much better. I am completely captivated listening to here. Thank you Mrs. Baker for "giving it the best that you've got".

This woman...She sang to love..she sings to men...so many days in my life I needed her emotion..it ultimately gave me hope that I would find love...a beautiful wife, children and ultimately a beautiful life....There hasn't been an artist like her since she emerged on the scene in the 80's as a solo artist. No other female black singer has ever ask a man since then the question, what's wrong? or offers to apologize in song. Anita Baker, one of the greatest singers to ever live. I LOVE ME SOME ANITA BAKER!:)

There is something about this video of Anita that hits me right in the "feels" every time I watch it. Her effortless delivery, that rich tone like liquid chocolate. Anita just walked on cold and slayed everyone in the studio. The reaction of the audience at the end says it all. They know they just witnessed something special. And me? I'm like Phil at the end, speechless. Love you Ms. Anita!

(Clearly she sang that LIVE & beautifully - I must add) My baby girls (twins) heard Anita Baker's music during my 9 months of carrying them and beyond, and to this day they share stories about still having tears in their eyes/goosebumps when they listen to her sing, from 1984-2013 - my entire family knows of and LOVES Anita Baker's music. Even my 17 year old. Thank you soooo much for posting such a timeless classic!

Anita is probably overall the best singer of all time. And i LOVE Whitney, Celine, Mariah, Patty, Aretha, Luther and the list goes on. But she has this way that no one can replicate. No more tears she hit several octaves(Ive seen her 7 times in concert and always yelled that song she smile and never sing it) I was like omg that might be your best song. Showed her range which she doesnt show in her concerts often she plays angel, mystery, no one in the world, but doesnt play you belong to me(which she kills it) giving you the best that I got. She always plays rapture. But some of her not most heard songs are her best. She is THEE MOST TALENTED ARTIST.
