Wonderful feet for a serger! I noticed when everyone demonstrate different feet or technique are always made in a small piece of fabric! I would love to see these demonstrated on a real garment! It is easy on a small straight piece of fabric but on a real garment it is quite different.... thank you so much for sharing, have a wonderful day! Christine

Just found your channel when searching for sewing info. From there I found this video. I must admit, I've not used my Juki serger much since purchase a year ago. Guess it is just a bit intimidating. Learning that there may be other feet available for it, I watched the video to see if I might want to purchase some. Your video was very informative. Thank you. Now the confession: Looking for the manual to see if it included info on additional feet, I went to the box the serger came in. Inside I found a kit with 6 different feet! [embarrassment] It came with those and I had completely forgotten. LOL In my defense, my serger is stored on a shelf not the box. Now the newly found feet are stored there as well. Perhaps sewing organization should be the next project. :)

Thank you for this video demonstration, Anita. Love your channel. When sewing fabric from a pattern design is it best to disengage the cutting blade as not to loose seam allowance on the fabric? I am trying to understand the purpose of the cutting blade. I will not want to loose seam allowance if the blade is going to cut the fabric. I need some enlightenment pertaining this and thank you
@AnitabyDesign3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. When you're sewing the garment with your serger, the purpose is to sew the seam and remove the extra seam allowance at the same time. That's the the cutting blade is engaged. You can disengage the blade if you don't want to remove the seam allowance though.

Although my ovation uses different feet I learn so much from you as you explain so well! Right now I am watching sewing videos to motivate me as I just got my machines serviced after sitting for several years. Currently I am in the organization mode with all my overload of sewing “stuff”!!!! My mother was a collector of fabric and sewing tools and when she passed last year I got a lot and my daughter in laws grandmother just gave me “stuff”! Then I have collected my own hoard of stuff!!! Sorting through it…. Do I really “need” 6 seam rippers, oodles and oodles off thread, 3 magnetic pin holders plus one that fits on wrist, buttons by the gallons, a huge drawer full of zippers, and patterns galore????? Well, since I do have ADD I probably do need several Seam rippers, and well, I have enough to share in case my granddaughter just happens to develop an interest in learning to sew. Thank you Anita for your beautiful smile and positive ways you inspire us!!!
@AnitabyDesign2 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness, Leah! You just made my heart smile. I'm very sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I'm glad you have her sewing tools. Have fun organizing your supplies. I say hold on to all those seam rippers. I have a basket full of them. They go dull and I just throw them out and grab a new one. I also have several magnetic pin holders. One for regular pins and the other for ballpoint. Then I have aa magnetic pin wand because I want easy pickup when pins spill out. LOL!

I have a question about using the elastic foot with a pattern for a garment. When sewing a pattern that requires elastic, you have a piece cut that needs a corresponding cut piece of elastic that you need to stretch to fit the fabric. How do you know how much to tighten the screw on the elastic foot in order to accommodate the appropriate amount of stretch? Thank you so much for your tutorials. You explain everything so clearly and I appreciate your help so much.
@AnitabyDesign11 ай бұрын
That's a really good question. I found that hard to determine without just testing the actual piece on a scrap piece of fabric.
@donnapage187710 ай бұрын
That makes me feel better that I’m not the only one that finds that a problem. It seems easier to just stretch the elastic to fit. The ease of using the foot would be nice since I have it but I don’t want to have to fiddle with it figuring out. Thanks for responding!

Hi, Anita. I've just bought a Vibrant. Thank you for your demonstrations. But I have a question. On your tutorial sewing a t-shirt, when you use the blind hem foot, there was a normal straight stitch on the right side of the hem. But in this video you had a different kind of perpendicular stitches on the right side of the fabric which you can open up. Can you pls, clear that part? I prefer a straight stitch when I use my blind hem foot, like you get on the t-shirt. Thank you 🙋♀️💕
@AnitabyDesign4 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes, in the t-shirt video it appears as though the stitches are horizontal but they're not. If you zoom in on the video you can see the perpendicular ticks just a little but not too well because the thread is same color as fabric. I think that maybe the type of fabric I used may have gave the illusion of horizontal stitches. Not sure, but the stitches are the same in both videos. The hemmer foot will only create perpendicular stitches. If you prefer the horizontal stitches you can just use your regular machine for the hems. I hope this helps.
