I picked this power bank up recently and I agree it is a bit too chunky for what it is. If it was a bit less bulky it would make a lot more sense as a product. That being said, I think it is a more practical battery for my use case than the 10k. I don't need 10K worth of power out of a magsafe battery bank, 6.6k is enough. But the kickstand has been really useful when traveling, especially on flights (on planes like Southwest, where there is a pamphlet pocket in place of the TV screen, you can tuck the battery pack in there to have your phone at eye level). And to address the size issue, I bought an Anker 321 5K to go along with it. It is only Qi1 but combined the price came out as less than what the Qi2 10k battery costs. I use the 321 when I need to carry a battery pack in my pocket, and I use the 6.6K when I have a bag with me and know I'll likely be sitting somewhere. One thing I'd like to see tested is the charging speed of the 6.6k vs the 10k power bank. One of the biggest things about these wireless battery packs is heat management. Many brands, including Anker, have had issues with battery packs getting uncomfortably hot, with some brands even sending out recalls over it. Temperature concerns is likely why we don't have a small 15W Qi2 power bank from Anker, the only brand which has made a small qi2 power bank is Belkin, but they've limited it to 7.5W when running off battery power, with 15W reserved for when it is plugged into the wall (because using external power generates less heat than drawing power from the batteries). The 10k has more battery mass to spread out the heat, but the 6.6k has the batteries essentially in a separate housing from the wireless charging coil, and the entire back of the wireless charging side is an aluminum plate which can dissipate heat (at least when you have the stand open). I'd be interested to see if the 6.6k charges an iPhone faster than the 10k, as potentially both the power bank and the iPhone should stay cooler with this design, decreasing the chance of either device throttling the charging speed. Also regarding the packaging, I think if it is a product intended primarily for online sales the Anker uses the plainer packaging design, as it is cheaper to produce. For a product which they intend to sell in retail stores like Best Buy though, then they go with the extra cost of a full color box since in that situation the packaging affects the buying decision.

Great comment! I appreciate you taking the time to write that. That’s a really cool use case on the southwest flight, I was on one not too long ago. The temps are definitely a concern for these and I’m testing a small 5k qi2 bank from mophie.. gets pretty warm too. I’ll do some speed test vs these other products. Yeah as for the Anker packaging, you’re completely correct. I just posted a video for new Anker phone cases that recently launched and yes, basic packaging to keep the costs low.

Can you compare your older anker wireless charger(the black one in the video)... I am trying to understand if it really is charging it faster in actually time.

Yeah the old anker(qi1) charged up an iPhone 14 Pro 25% in 30 minutes and 44% in 1 hour. With this new qi2 version, the 14 Pro was at 44% in 30 minutes and 68% in 1 hour. So it’s definitely faster but more bulky. I hope anker can make an updated version of that slimmer battery.
