Great review! Seems it does need an update as I have had contact with the Anker German distributor via Amazon and the newer models of the Soundcore 2 SKU A3105013 and newer have upgraded IPX rating to 7 and also bluetooth 5.0 supporting wireless stereo pairing, making this speaker even more attractive. After buying the device, and using my Note 8, I've found adjusting the volume of the speaker using my phone wasn't an issue at all. I DID have one issue however; it is NOT compatible with Alexa (I had paired it with the Alexa Echo Input), as it has a built-in sleep mode. The latter turns off the speaker if not being used for the past 30 minutes. This feature CAN NOT be turned off. So in order to use Alexa after the speaker had turned off, you have to manually turn it on again (which basically defeats the purpose of the always-on voice commands of Alexa). Hope this helps.

Ideal for listening to audio books, e.g. Audible books from Amazon. I tested this Anker 'Soundcore 2' against the more expensive 'upgraded Soundcore Boost' and found this cheaper speaker gave more pleasant voice sounds, while the upgraded Boost version was better for music (especially singing voices). It's strange that narration voices sounded much better on this Soundcore 2, while the Boost was better able to handle top-level professional Opera singers, like Pavarotti. As my interest was for audio book narration, then the 24 hours battery life and affordable price of the Soundcore 2 made this my audio book speaker of choice. ANDROID can display BATTERY CHARGE if you go into Bluetooth settings for this pairing and select BOTH "calls" and "audio". It requires "calls" to be selected for battery charge %age to be displayed.

January 2021: I've just received my ANKER SoundCore 2 & I can confirm that the volume control on the SC2 is controlling my Samsung Galaxy S8 Android cell phone levels as it does with iPhones. But with my Toshiba Tecra A50 it's weird, for the SoundCore 2 controls the sound level on my Toshiba but the Toshiba sound level can't control the sound level of the SoundCore 2, only on & off! Overall, I'm very happy with its sound quality, much much better than my Logitech tablet speaker.

July 23, 2022. My take on the Anker SoundCore 2 at a glance. Maybe as well you could input some on my views or question. Brought this few days ago and I got in the mail today. I agree with alot you state in video. I like the weight and how it is made. Vs todays stuff that is cheap and junk. Looks are nice and the feel. Working with a Samsung Galaxy S9 Android. Pairing was fast and simple. Test only at this time for KZbin music audio. For bass I looked at a few Reggae songs. I found the bass to be full and you can tell alot it is there. Max volume had no distort and was still clear. Next was some rock. I see the bass drops and not there. I will note- alot comes into play on this. The song, the quality bit rate of such and so on. I do know KZbin unpaid compresses stuff down in quality some. I will test more later on some Flac files else place when I get time. Overall everything was pretty good. My problem is this- the volume. 1. I know each output device differs in output volume gain. 2. What song and how it is mastered. I think in my case it is most to do with the phone. The Samsung Galaxy 9 does not have much volume at max let alone else. It is loud sorta but.... I was not impressed by the volume and or loudness of this speaker. Again- though I think alot is my phone as issue. I know the speaker can do more before distort or all else and still output a good quality. I am aware there are apps on Google play for volume and eq boost. Question is which one is pretty good vs wasteful time getting just so they can get my info and I uninstall? You think a volume boost app will help? Next- I did not know such has a phone mic and can do all that. I am curious as with the mic quality and sound. I will have to test... Meaning is there the famous delay when talking to someone, the tin junk sound etc? Overall for the price it is worth. It offers a good few things and is built nice. Sound quality is pretty good. I agree it is a BIG step up from a phone speaker outputting whatever.... Last last- You talk about you can't pair another one of these ( Stereo 2 speakers. ). That sucks. Side note- the + and - volume does work when you select it. It will move it up or down on the phone as well the box. Least it does for me on YT. USA- 20 bucks shipped for mine 2022.

Thanks for the video. -I actually have one of these. It's great except for two small annoyances... 1. There's about a one second delay when you first start piping signal to it, (I have mine plugged into a desktop computer). -So every time a KZbin video starts, you miss the first second of audio. -Or, if the video goes silent for a few seconds, the audio cuts out and waits until the signal spikes again to turn back on. This is probably a power saving feature, (pointless when plugged in), but it does help by not allowing the speaker to hiss quietly when not in use. That's good, but.., it's still annoying. I'd rather have a physical, highly responsive on/off switch, (unlike the rubberized slow boot-up button). 2 When you're plugged in via AUX, the blue panel light blinks endlessly. It's REALLY annoying, especially if your room lights are turned down. I put a piece of black tape over it. Still, not bad for $50 Canadian bux.

No problem Mark Oakley! These speakers often have strange little quirks!
@ivyssauro1234 жыл бұрын
Mark, that's a very common problem with BT speakers, I have had the same issue with two JBL speakers in the past, annoying for watching movies on your desktop, or listening to music with lots of silence(I'm a classical music nerd), but overall not much of a problem. I think it's due to this; the speaker is programmed to go off as soon as there's no signal coming in, which in the case of a BT connection is not gonna happen much often and saves battery, but with an aux cable, which physically stops sending Information (energy)when reproducing silence it will turn of all the time and as you said, is pretty useless battery-wise.

H! how is it after a while, is the audio good, and does the battery last?

@@liakim1572 I've never used it unplugged, so I don't know about battery life. It's still working as I described above, with a nice clear signal and no hiss. I use it whenever I don't want to wear headphones. I don't regret the purchase. (Though, I did open it up to snip the connector for the blue LED. That worked, and was a relief to my peripheral vision. It was an easy bit of DIY.)

Hi great review, liked the video and subbed. My old CD player has packed up, and rather then replacing it with a sound system, I'm looking at getting into this new fangled wireless and Bluetooth malarkey. Being new to this tech, it's a bit of a minefield, this Anker speaker keeps getting great reviews though. I wonder if you can help with my requirements. I have a Samsung S8, which can synch to two devices, would a pair of speakers be better? Also a perfect speaker for me would be able to play music from my phone, and also connect to my projector for gaming and movies via a 3.5 mm aux. Because I need a good all rounder that is suitable for music, movies and gaming, I don't know what to look for, or even if I should get a dedicated Bluetooth speaker for my phone, and a sound bar for my projector, ideally I'd like something that can do both if that's even possible. It doesn't have to be loud as I live in apartments and use headphones mostly, so clarity and good bass levels, along with something compact and discreet are priorities for me. Sorry for the long winded message, I hope you can help. In the meantime I'll be checking out your other videos for information and liking them along the way. Cheers Charlie

This Anker speaker is a good choice if portability is key. It can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and to your projector via line-in, but may be a little quiet for watching films on a big screen. You can't pair 2 of these together for stereo, so the sound stage will be quite limited, especially for watching films. Still if it fits the bill for playing music from your phone, you could always see how you go, and add a sound bar further down the line if required?

Why not get a bluetooth receiver and just connect that to your sound system? Far cheaper and possibly better sound quality and can hit all the points tyou need it for without spending outrages amounts of cash on a good bluetooth speaker system and having to sort through that whole mire of products. Because I don't think Bluetooth sets are a good replacement for a sound system, they just seem to be a good portability solution.

I was thinking about getting another one because not only does my phone have dual Bluetooth abilities but I tried it with 2 different Bluetooth speakers and it played off sync. Although, I thought but I could still make it work because it has a headphone Jack in which I could go headphone Jack to the other speaker. Than I could just connect to the 1 Bluetooth speaker in the 2nd speaker would also play if I did headphone Jack the headphone Jack on the to sound core speakers, is this correct? Could I use a headphone to headphone jack to connect 2 Bluetooth speakers together, and then they will play at the same time for good outdoor surround sound/louder sound?

Not sure I understand your question. The newer version can create a stereo pair with a second speaker. That's the only way you can get synced audio from two speakers that I'm aware of.

However, I still went ahead and purchased this. This product's cost is way too high compared to other similar products offered by different brands. Now, within 11 months only, the speaker is producing distorted sounds. I complained to Anker regarding the same since it's still in warranty, but they would not return or repair the product saying - "If the issue persists, we regret that we are not able to help you walk into our 18-months warranty process. Because I've noticed that you purchased this order from ATM RETAIL, and they are responsible for the warranty. We don't process the warranty from purchases made through our resellers because we don't have their order details in our system." Really? I am disappointed and did not expect this was coming from a company like ANKER. My bad. I should never go for this product, and neither should anyone else. It's better to choose a good brand with better customer values (Philips, Sony, Bose, JBL, etc.). @unboxtherapy - I am really disappointed and should have never trusted you guys.

That's disappointing - have you tried contacting the retailer - maybe they can help 🤞? Good luck.

I'm looking for a Bluetooth speaker for my android phone that will make a loud ring when my phone rings. I need it to be able to work through a wall and maybe 30 feet. Will this work? And what is the best charger to use? Can I just leave it on charge? Please answer questions. I am returning an Altec Hydrajolt and the volumn is not loud enough
@TheTechnologyMan Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure this is the best for that. These aren't really designed to be plugged in permanently - will eventually damage the battery.

Hi how many hours do you get when on max volume when the device is fully charged thanks
@TheTechnologyMan4 жыл бұрын
I can't give you an exact number - it's a while since I tested this. But battery life is a big selling point of this speaker - better than any other speaker I've tested of a comparable size.
@mollies133 жыл бұрын
10 hours on max 50 percent then 24 hours or lower volume.

I'll probably find the answer before it gets answered here but.. Have just bought one and I guess it must be fully charged but plugged the usb in anyway. The charging light is red, I always thought red would denote it needed charging and it would either be green or blue when fully charged. 🤔
@TheTechnologyMan4 жыл бұрын
The battery would always need topping up - so that's normal! It's not good practice to ship a Lithium battery fully charged - and even if they did it'd lose some charge in transit.
@Zubareffstream1114 жыл бұрын
@@TheTechnologyMan Wow, that was quick. But will the red charging light turn a different colour when fully charged?

There isn't an awful lot of bass - but it still sounds good for its size.

does this support low frequency audio like neighbour stomping noise? because I have to bring my speaker up to pair it with my phone and show my upstairs neighbour how loud their stomping noises are because they kept believing that they are not making any noise at all
@TheTechnologyMan2 жыл бұрын
It's not so good at the lower end - it's a tiny speaker.

Watched a ton of videos about this speaker before buying it, bought it to find out there is a delay between audio and image while watching youtube or online movies. Delay is about 1-2 seconds but its enough to annoy you. No one mentions this so be aware.
@angelofcrysis66295 жыл бұрын
Andrei Iosip sounds like that’s a faulty one. I’ve had the original for years and it never did that.
@TheTechnologyMan5 жыл бұрын
I find it depends on what you use to play the video. With an iPad I get a very small delay - definitely not 1-2 seconds.

if u look closely there are 3 speakers, but when the music turns on, only one speaker works, the one in the middle. do i have to activate all 3 of them or something?
@hamilepan92605 жыл бұрын
Yea
@ThibautMahringer5 жыл бұрын
There is 2 speakers for the sound, at the middle there is a passive radiator for bass, this is the one that moves the most.

The ankra is not bad. However the bass is very weak not enough bass. For a cheap bluetooth speaker like that it dosen.t sound that bad I would say.
@saajeeb4 жыл бұрын
Good job; but next time you play sample music, play it with bass part.
@TheTechnologyMan4 жыл бұрын
Thank you SajeebTV - listen to some of my more recent reviews where I compare the Soundcore 2 to other speakers - you can hear some more bassy tracks.
