Great trick at the beginning. 🧔🏻👍 I'm not sure why you are assuming that an Echo dot and Logitech Harmony Hub is required though. Vector already has voice recognition so I expect that once Anki drops the IFTTT Applet we'll be able to connect Vector directly to our IFTTT accounts without to need for an Amazon Echo or Logitech Harmony Hub. Many of us are concerned with Amazon's approach to privacy and hope Anki doesn't force Amazon integration on us and keeps it optional.

Ya, pretty sure vector will be able to just do it himself once they drop Alexa. I mean if vector will have Alexa on board, why would you need another Alexa device? You would not need Vector with Alexa on board, to talk to another Alexa. They have said that they are working on privacy, and how he will respond. I hope they use his own voice. Anki has stated they do not want to use Alexa's voice.

Vector won't have Alexa 'onboard'. Instead, there will be an option to use Alexa to respond to questions as an alternative to asling Vector's database. Going from what Anki have said about the Alexa integration, it will require a seperate call word, such as "Hey Vector" "Ask Alexa" "your question." The point I was making was that there should be no need for Alexa at all once the IFTTT applet is released by Anki. Once that happens we should, theoretically speaking at least, be able to simply say "Hey Vector" "Turn off the Lights", Alexa not being a part of that process. And yes, Vector wil retain his own voice. On the matter of Alexa, Anki and privacy, I found it a bit strange that in one of the Vector commercials they portray Alexa (or an Alexa clone) as the 'Bad Robot' and that you should instead buy the 'Good Robot' Vector. I don’t think Vector will need Alexa but just following what they said on their website. I think it will end up being, ‘Alexa, tell Vector to turn on TV’ while Vector dance for it.

But that would require Alexa. 😀 My point is you could control your smart home with just Vector and IFTTT, without Alexa being involved at all.

It would be nice if Vector in the future wouldn't need Alexa for working but I don't think it will happen and Anki say it clear "Integration with Alexa" - so I think it will be something like - you say "Hey, Vector" instead of "Hey, Alexa" and what you need him to do. But you gonna steel need Alexa to do the work. So, Vector it's gonna be like an Alexa device but with some live reaction. Of course, it can be a very good cooperation between Amazon and Anki with the integration of Vector as a device instead of this Alexa puck. Will gonna see.

Yes, I guess the whole beauty of this link up is that you have a expression of a robot when you command a smart home function.

Yep, Anki should make settings in the Vector app and it will say Link smart devices like what you can do with the Google Assistant such as LG ThinQ, Nest, Samsung SmartThings and iRobot Smart Home

hmm so the phrase of alexa or hey alexa is no more so...….. vector is replacing alexa …… I want one so bad and can you do a tutorial for a smart home like everything you need ill be tested in a apartment and this can help me a lot and I read some of these comments what I think idk if victor will keep track of your events like ask him to wake you in the morning type of thing will he only control the home or will he be just like alexa and do her or his job cause I want a cute robot that I can ask to turn my things on

Amazon want, like Bill gates windows, everywhere in all our home... So they do all to integrate Alexa in any device if possible! For me Vector use Alexa with "Hey Vector" its ok. May we get Vector skills made for vector. All this stuff must be create by Anki......if they dont want alexa. So i hope in future amazon work with Vector this way, Vector Skills and many more....Dont forget: Vector will be not the only Robot with Alexa inside in future!!!!
