Always get a second opinion, always!!! Don’t walk on a fracture-- I think is the best advice bc u want it to heal. I was told I could walk and it made things worse

i need help please on wether i should get a surgery or get a second opinion conclusion :acute nondisplaced intra articular distal tibial fracture . no subchondral offset is appreciated few tiny ossific densities are noted along the central to medial aspect of the tibiotalar joint. please im running out of time

Hi, DR, I'm struggling in finding my answer, and still always confusing, I broke my ankle a week ago, from 2/23/22 till now 2/30/22, I called and made a follow up appt but they didn’t have it for in 2, suppostly had to do it for 2 days,days, so my appt has been made for a week and a half from the 23rd, some people say is ok because my swelling is still there, so it can wait, my condition is “Nondisplaced Fibular Ankle Fracture” so, I'm i in some sort of trouble for waiting that long, or not???? i have a cast, immovilization, the DR, put it on the emergency, any feedback will be appreciated, i just want to have a piece of mind!, I'm worrying my healing process going to be bad because of the waiting period, Thank You.

My mom broke her joint the one on the outside of the ankle. She decided not to have surgery, and it's been a year and she limps. She is better after the cast and the brace. She is 65, how long will it take for her to be fully healed?

Ivonne, we heal slower than the youngins; what they could handle in 6 weeks to 3 months may take us Older but Greaters a year or 2, but remember We are made of Cast Iron , not fiberglass or plastic- we booked to be on 🌎 Earth for the long haul- but the final authority should be Your Mom's Doctor, He knows her even better than I Do!

Will I be able to walk again ? I had a Bimalleolar fracture . I chose not to do surgery due to covid pandemic . I’m 65 and was scared . This happened back in March 24 . I was told I should be able to weight bare . So I am practicing with crutches . But now I have pain after walking with crutches . But not all the time . Taking Tylenol extra strength . It is June 23 and I still have a line fracture on top of foot . But it is healing but slowly . I do not smoke or drink . I am taking supplements for bone . I am being fitted with a brace on July 1st . Where they use a mold to your foot . It suppose to get me out of the moon boot and walking again . I googled my type of fracture today and it says I may not walk !! I have to walk again . I am a walker and that’s how I excercise. The Dr said my bones are aligned . So it must of healed enough for them to tell me to weight bare . Please talk to me ?? 😭😭😭😭No one told me I may not walk again !! I don’t want to run . But I want to walk . It doesn’t hurt when I’m walking with crutches . I was trying to avoid covid pandemic . Plus no one said I may not ever walk again ?!!!!! 😭😭Dr said I had good calcium for my age and also good D .. Plus starting PT soon for first time .

I had the same injury as you I had to wait a week and then had surgery. 2 plates and 9 screws I'm in a hard cast for 4 weeks. Then I need a boot and about 8/12 weeks rehab

I hope you both are doing well- ankles seem to be sneaky joints- when you THINK you might be healed they seem to say " whoa , not so fast, Junior- I don't believe we told You to start moving us so quickly!" , they ache and have ways if proving their point.
