Wrestling Fanatics was started by a pair of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belts, Michael Zenga and Bernardo Faria who have a passion for all things grappling.
They feel that nothing is more important than improving your Wrestling skills as much as possible in the least amount of time. Their aim was to create a shop for Wrestling Students who don’t look at Wrestling as a sport - but as a lifestyle.

It in my opinion helps understand what it would look like in a real fight against someone who won’t let u get him into almost a guillotine choke.

Would it not make sense to prevent him from basing by grabbing the wrist?
@JudoMateo
@JudoMateo 4 жыл бұрын
Boxman_Ninja08 You cannot reach it, and as he’s demonstrated that posted hand doesn’t matter because he can pressure and drive you over it. The harder an opponent resisted from that position the higher the likelihood of giving up back points.

@@JudoMateo The only thing holding the guy up is his hand. Can't you make it a point to grab his wrist/hand before tripping the leg for it to be smoother. And if you aren't able to reach it or if he bases too quickly you would just resort to pressuring forward as you mentioned.

@@boxman_ninja0819 If you're looking to use your right hand to grab the opponent's left wrist, then you probably aren't going to be doing this technique, you'll be looking to do another one. The move that Chamizo is showing here requires your right hand on the mat to post for base and drive. Anyways this is an ultra-advanced technique and a little bit dangerous for your opponent's legs (and potentially your own legs) if you're not careful. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is not already very advanced at wrestling. You are giving up the underhook when you grab the head, and you are giving the opponent a leg ride when you step into that deep kouchi-gake / kouchi-makikomi style position. So you'd better know how to finish or your opponent is going to get the score. I also wouldn't recommend it for BJJ unless you have a LOT of experience in wrestling-style back escapes (such as Priit Mikhelson's style, who has a KZbin channel and also some DVD's available on BJJ Fanatics). For BJJ it's a highly nuanced position with a lot of things going on, and if you don't know what you're doing the opponent has a decent chance of getting their second hook in.

I love Chamizo's impact on the sport, but I would have to see this in a match to believe it. The only way his hips or the foot you are tripping are going to be that close to you are if he has an attack lined up. You're wide open for a body lock, throw by, or him just ducking his head forward to let you slip off. Just his first instinct is to duck/pull his head out and you don't have a head and arm throw locked up.

He has does it many times in competition against a under hook or 2 and 1. But he usually just block the opponents foot with his foot and then goes for the ankle pick. He counters the under hooks really well.

Can we do it without opponents underhook
@robertrodriguez5283

You can, but by doing so you'll be in risk of having your back taken. Frank's lowered left elbow of the single neck tie serves as a feeler to feel the direction of his opponent's movements, and it's an obstacle to maintain some distance (keeping his opponent from the back position). If the elbow is not in the seen lowered position, those purposes would not happen. If anyone were to use the head pull as an initiation to the technique, the reacting opponent to such an attempt could see the opening made by such an attempt, drop level, and turn the corner to the back. The technique works because the opponent gets past the elbow by moving upward, thetefore exposing his head to be controlled.

In wrestling you can do pretty much anything you want as long as you get good at it. But perhaps you won't have the surprise factor that Chamizo is trying to teach. Chamizo is executing this unorthodox technique from a deeply compromised position -- he has given up an underhook, and hasn't taken a whizzer in return. The opponent knows he has the advantage, so he is probably pressuring forward -- right into Chamizo's trap. In a way, it's a little bit like the inside trip counter to double underhooks -- the opponent's double underhooks is way stronger than your double overhooks, so they are comfortable pressuring in. My feeling is that if you try this move while you have the underhook, an opponent might try to defend by keeping their hips away, especially if they aren't looking to go upper body.
