Jakar has been known for the big prawn noodle for a long time, like the Peking Restaurant near to the Jakar bridge / river. The big prawns caught from the nearby Jakar river are the best because the water is a blend of salty and fresh water to produce resilient prawn flesh. Prawns from fresh water do not have resilient flesh. The dried shrimps from Sarikei, sourced from nearby Balawi and Daro areas, are the best in Malaysia. Mangrove wood is used to bake the shrimp flesh / sliced pieces.
