Thank you! There was no one like Ann. I got to see her and Mickey Rooney live when they toured in "Sugar Babies." She was around 60 and still dancing just as well as ever; he was around the same age, and ditto. What a treat!

Ann Miller lead one of the most fabulous lives in Hollywood. A young tap star at 14, replacing the original tap dance queen, Eleanor Powell, at 24, coming out of retirement to do Sugar Babies on Broadway with fellow Golden Ager Mickey Rooney at 60. What a tall, dark, and beautiful Texan she was. She's greatly missed. Love hearing her rapid-fire taps in her films.

Love them both - but her age (and Rooney’s) were questioned for some time. No way she was 14 in Stage Door. I believe Miller even says she was 16 in later interviews. But LOVE this clip and how delightful Miller is - comic, singer, tapper extraordinaire!

This is proof why Columbia was the 'poverty row' studio. The camera should be centered on Miller during her dancing, yet half the time she's almost in the background.

Rita Hayworth was Columbia's star. I am not sure why you say Columbia was a poverty row studio since Columbia had an big budget A unit for its big stars like Hayworth and had a lower budgeted B unit for stars like Ann Miller. True, unlike Eleanor Powell (MGM) or Rita Hayworth Ann did not get the constant close ups when she danced. A example of a poverty row studio would have been Monogram studio where stars were sent when their careers fell into decline.

My mom was a dancer in this movie. I love seeing her in this clip. She told me that Ann miller wore a putty nose because of a bad nose job. When she’d tap fast in circles, the tip of her “nose” flew off and hit a cameraman in the face.

I'm sorry folks. As Brazilia actress Fernanda Montenegro put when she won an Emmy trophy, "latino" is a race invented by Americans. Yes because they think we are all the same thing,Even among countries which speak Spanish, the accents are different. IHowever it happens that in Brazil,WE SPEAK PORTUGUESE, and even so, Portuguese from Portugal is very different from the Portuguese in Brazil.Much more than the differences between the English of Britons and Americans; Well, this film is very old, an antique in terms of movies. But Hollywood and their producers should have some care, because the "Brazilians" here have a strong Spanish accent, and the way the guy saus "ganha-pão" (profesion, way of getting money) it's hilarious.They look simply unctuous.

Choreographed by Nick Castle, Eugene Loring and Jack Cole, all contenders; but the score is unmemorable and the director is a hack, Sylvan Simon. The routine is interrupted by dialog to make plot points, and Ann is short-changed by b&w, which was passe by 1946. She must have been more thrilled by the call from MGM than by Brazil. In fact Keenan Wynn, Simon and Loring were all on loan from Metro, which shows what a difference Freed, Pasternak or Cummings could have made if they had been in charge.
