Anna is one of my favorite guests of yours Jonathan. Thanks for having her on. I’d like to share with you and your viewers my own position as a life-long friend of Ukraine. I posted a comment on Jake Broe’s recent blog that although I regard him as a genuine hero, I respectfully disagreed with him when he stated that “we don’t need ruzzia to lose”. I believe we do need ruzzia to lose completely to the point of disintegration. There is no chance of peace in the world as long as the ruzzian federation continue to exist. What's the difference between hate and disgust? Exactly Anna. What an incisive insight.

Disgust is one of humans' basic 5 or 6 emotions: it comes directly, undiluted, spontaneously. Hate's a bit more complicated, depending more on social context and personal circumstances. Hate can be overcome with knowledge, persuasion, compassion, etc. even if that is often extremely difficult or impossible in many cases. Disgust is one ingredient of hate that's hard to undo but it probably won't eat yourself up like hate does.

There are A LOT of Russians in the US who are firmly on Ukraine’s side in this war. America is the epicenter of the Soviet/Russian diaspora. Most of these folks have no illusions as far as Russia is concerned. It’s a lot safer for anti-Soviet & anti-Imperial Russians in the US than it is in Europe or the UK. The Brits and Continental Europeans did a lot more business with Putin and are/were more dependent on Russian energy.

Kursk used to be Ukrainian territory. When Nikita Khrushchev "gave" Crimea to Ukraine, it wasn't for free. He practically swapped Crimea for the Kursk region. So if Crimea, god forbid, has to be given back to Russia in negotiations, Russia should be forced to give the Kursk region back to Ukraine. Let's hope this never comes to be.
