Exactly how octaves at 1:35 should be played, namely in pounding appassionato a fashion. Many people stroke the keys while playing op. 44 but she makes it sound like a true triumphant polonaise. Bravissima!

Perfect technique which allows such petite lady sound stronger than many of men. Fantastic crescendo which seems having no limits. Wonderful and tasteful middle part. I hate when pianists try to make beautiful music even “more beautiful” falling into bad taste. She just let’s music speak for itself. Bravo!

I remember hearing this for the first time during the competition in 2010. I was impressed with her playing. I agree with the comments. Just to add- the singing melodic tone, even on the fast octaves; the use of rubato; accelerando toward the climaxes; the full resonant forte sounds without forcing.
@heliusbuczynskichodomaj8440 Жыл бұрын
Wielki Ukłon i szacunek. 😊

@@heliusbuczynskichodomaj8440 Thanks for your reply. I listened to it again, conducting with my hand as I listened. On the accompanying left hand she articulates the eighth note and two sixteenth notes, she accelerates toward the first beats, as when she has the running left hand sixteenth notes, and the climaxes of phrasing (which sometimes occur on the second beat of the measure), and will linger and pull like sticky taffy on the longer melodic notes, and slow down a phrase so she can speed up on the next phrase. Very well done.

Probably the finest hands in the profession. A magnificent example of the french technique a la Alfred Cortot. What wonderful exquisite sound.
@francoaragosta42855 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, but ANNA plays circles around M. Cortot who rarely escaped seeming either decrepit or terribly underrehearsed. ANNA is frankly SUPERB in every regard. Why she didn't win this competition is a mystery. She is an ARTIST of very rare gifts. She communicates, warmth, wisdom, insight, passion, sincerity and absolute MAStERY of whatever material she chooses to perform. I've been listenung to her all afternoon and evening, and can't get enough of her splendid playing.

Beuatiful as it can get, a wonderful interpretation. Inteligence and poetry. The tempi are amazing and so are too the dinamic contrasts (crescendos, etc.). Everything come right in the right moment. Great Anna Fedorova ! PS. IMHO the recording quality here is bettter than her rendition in the Concertgebow Hall, more 'adequate' thus doing more justice to her interpretation

La bellezza di questo capolavoro non si può dire a parole...
@markhedman1884 Жыл бұрын
Regarding the section beginning at 3:06. I like how she interprets this part. It sounds like she is playing a crescendo to a forte, and then a few bars later when it returns there is a diminuendo (which is marked in the score). She is maintaining forward motion toward the first beat of the measure throughout, slightly rushing toward the first beat. The playing is unfussy, without agogic accents, or pounding. There is a grand sweep of gradual buildup and then departure (like a parade?). This section is repetitive, and I feel when I listen to other performances that the piece bogs down at this point, but she maintains the momentum.
