Of all the islands I’ve visited in Florida, keywaydin island has to be my favorite. It’s a small island that is only accessible by boat, it’s is in between Naples and Marco island which are both beautiful places. When I went here, I had the whole 12 miles of private beach to myself because there is only 2-3 homes on the island. The only downside is the 50 minute boat ride to go to any restaurant or store, but it is still very beautiful! I usually go to Captiva island, but couldn’t go there this year because of tornado damage. Anyways I can’t wait for my trip here!

Haven't been to Anna Maria I'm a long time. I didn't see it in your journey,but I didn't see fast Eddy's restaurant or on the pier we used to feed a pelican with one flipper missing,he walked like a pirate with a peg leg. He waited for us every morning we'd get breakfast and coffee. Bradenton since the 80's & 90's. Anna Maria hasn't got commercial good that's what my mom and dad liked about it. Mom loved coquina with all the trees,yeah when I went to visit them (they stayed for the winter)(snow 🐦🕊️ birds)from New England but mom really wanted to live permanently down there. We should have left dad back home and moved down there just the girls. I've been saying for the last 10 yrs. I wanted to retire there even though mom and dad are passed away. I still will get there,I love it. Thanks for the beautiful video and the memories for me.😀🏖️🐚

Great AMI video, so much useful information and suggestions. We are from UK and have taken vacations in Florida for past 25 years - the last 8 years on AMI. We always go second half of September when it is relatively quiet without any of the traffic jams you witnessed. Dodged a few hurricanes; terrible what happened with Hurricane Ian to the South. Also suffered with Red Tide on a couple of trips so fingers crossed for this coming September. Villa rental charges have gone through the roof (is that a US understood term!) in last year so 2024 could be challenging for us. Anna Maria is something really special - we love it. And don’t miss Ginny’s and Jane’s for breakfast and cakes. Best regards to everyone in USA ❤❤❤

I lived there for 4 years from '96-'00. Have fond memories and enjoyed running and riding the sandy beaches and parking lots. Made some eclectic friends along the way; some have passed on. Seems like its exploded since then though. Moved just to the outskirts for a bit as well beside someone who claimed to be friends w/ two of the real life characters in the 'Perfect Storm.' They used to fish in the winters here when New England fishing was dormant. You can never go back though

We are going in the end of March and staying in st Pete’s and are planning on visiting Anna Maria island, go down to Sarasota, longboat key and siesta key. Will hit tampa, clearwater and Dunedin as well as oldsmar. I usually see the Tampa vid before our trip and it gets me super pumped but I’ll gladly wait til I get back. Thanks for doing the work sir! I watched your Tampa vid from maybe 6 years ago and went down there on a whim and had a blast in 2018, went back in 2019 it was better and then skip forward to 2022 I came back and guess what?!?! I was there recently. We hiked Robinson's Preserve and went up the observation tower. From there we could view fish jumping out of the water. I've never seen that before, but I don't live in Florida either (yet). Perhaps flying fish are more common there...(?)

My grandparents lived on Anna Maria from the late 80s until their deaths in the 2010s. We would drive out from Bradenton at least once a month. I remember back when it was a far smaller, sleepier community that only the locals knew about - long before so many of the McMansions went up. I like going back, but it doesn't really feel like the same small town it used to back when it had my Grandma & Grandpa in it.

Excellent video! This must have taken a very long time to put together. It is a beautiful area. My parents lived in Longboat Key for years. We have been to Anna Maria but have never done any of these activities and now I'm embarrassed! The only thing I want to point out - because I'm a negative person in general - is that all this fun will be astronomically expensive. Maybe that's why we didn't do the parasailing or the horse riding through the waves. Because it would be a small fortune - plus of course the aggressive hustling for tips. But don't let me rain on the parade. Lovely area and great video!

We have had a family owned beach house there for 70+ years. It was great a long time ago. Now it is just another tourist trap. We don't even go there any more and just rent it full time.

Here is the link to the carrier. amzn.to/446M8Ji I have the Small. My dog is 13lbs, and it could easily fit a dog even alittle bigger than her. There are cheaper carriers but this one is very durable, plus with the two straps across the front makes it very secure....There are 2 compartments one for your stuff and one for the dog. I actually put my dog in the regular compartment because its closer to you body and find it works better and just let my dog stick her head out the side. Then I use the actually Dog compartment to carry other stuff. Theres also inside Zippered pockets in both compartment which I find very useful to carry small stuff.

FYI its a tourist hell during tourist season and when the winter people are in florida. And good luck finding parking. I have taken many day trips to the islands. If you go during the off season you can have a real good time though even if not all places are fully operating at in the off season.
