Interesting that there seems to be more archival footage of her from 1960 than the entirety of the 1950s. I know there was a lull in her career in the 50s sans her TV show and a few guest appearances, but I'm surprised there don't seem to be any interviews or anything from that time. Interesting find a always, Rebecca!

She had a real burst of energy in that final year. All in all, pretty remarkable, considering her health. She was planning for the future. she did not go quiet.

Anna May grew even more beautiful as the years passed. A superb actress held back by blatant racism and sexism, had she lived longer she would have truly come into her own in the 1960s onward. Sadly, the fates decreed otherwise. I recently saw her magnificent performance in her landmark film Shanghai Express. Imagine if she and Marlene Dietrich had started in a film noir mystery/adventure/espionage thriller as the leads-two powerful femme fatales. WOW.
