私は日本人として、大東亜戦争の終末期に火事場泥棒の様に日本に侵略、そして同胞を奴隷としてシベリアに抑留、更には北方領土を不法に占拠、近くはウクライナを侵略したソビエト・ロシアを許す事は出来ませんし、ロシアの事を家族の前では「露助」と言うほどロシアやソ連に批判的(妻には「露助は差別用語だよ」と注意される)ですが、それと同等にソビエトやロシアと聞くと、何かよくわかりませんが私の中のロマンを掻き立てるのです。中学生の頃よく聴いていたモスクワ放送の日本語放送で流れるソ連の歌や宮脇俊三さんの「シベリア鉄道9400キロ」の影響もあると思います。私は今から定年退職したら中学生の頃からの憧れであるシベリア鉄道全線乗車の夢を叶いたいと思っています。その頃にはロシアの情勢が落ち着いていれば良いのにと祈っています。

Just been listening to YoYo Ma on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. If you’re not familiar with the programme it’s not important, it, it’s a scenario where guests choose 8 recordings that they would like to have with them should they be cast away on a desert island. Anyway, he chose Dmitrj Hvorostkvsky singing Moscow Nights because he said (this performance especially) that it just embodied love. Not just as is described in the song, but the absolute love pouring out from the audience to the performers and right back again. Yo Yo Ma said we were to search for this exact performance on KZbin and as much as watch the singers, to look at the faces of the audience, young and old, men and women, girls and boys - and so I did and it’s exactly as he described it, the embodiment of love, what was passing between Dmitrj and his audience. Amazing. And so poignant knowing he was to pass away just a few years later at such a young age. 🧡🧡🧡
