Anna was almost in tears when she said her friend Karl will never be replaced. It’s so true. He was magnificent. I felt sad for her loss. I didn’t know him, but I loved him. The world did.
So touching she paused for a second to really think about what she wanted to convey what Karl meant to her. One of the rare instances where we witness Anna be vulnerable and emotional for a brief second.

Anna Wintour is certainly not an "ice queen" when trying to describe her relationship with Karl Lagerfeld --- it was very moving to watch her struggle for words to express her depth of loss and her friendship with him. A friendship like the one between Anna and Karl only happens once in a lifetime...if you are lucky. On the morning that it was announced Karl had died, I purchased a handbag that must have been a sample. I have never seen it anywhere, it is the best and most perfectly structured handbag I have ever owned and Karl is with me every day. Thanks, Karl!

In the early 80's when Chanel was a 'nothing' fashion house the Chanel management hired Karl Lagerfeld - a very brave & controversial decision at the time. Where is that same daring & courage today? The passing of KL brought a new opportunity for Chanel's future. There are so many talented designers out there that can bring a new vision for Chanel in the same way KL did….instead we have someone that seems to simply re-edit the house classics without any fashion vision or leap forward ....a big mistake for the brand in my opinion.
