I would also enjoy another cat. I've two and once I make it to three there'll be no stopping, I'll have crossed the threshold. You can come across as a 'regular' pet owner with just two cats, three cats makes you something all together different. I'll be happy when that day comes, I want a ginger kitten, and I would like it now please.

The not-flirting balancing game is too real! I was thinking about that just the other night - I was playing Pokemon Go after dark and ended up walking and talking with a guy who was also playing. I felt the exact same sense of relief when he said something about his girlfriend, but I still couldn't quite switch out of my definitely-not-flirting mode into, you know, whatever my normal mode is.

That's why "dropping hints" flirt is not healthy, they confuse people and create tension in a conversation where there shouldn't be, making talking with the opposite gender always something unconfortable in some level

Most guys who are in a relationship are also doing the balancing act of not saying things that will come off as hitting on the girl who is not their gf. Not that it matters since it seems most of the females in this comment section think we're all heartless rapists anyway.

@@aqwandrew6330 Yes, because if he tells you he doesn't have a girlfriend that means he wants to date you. And if he wants to date you he'll assume you being friendly is flirting (men are 60% more likely than women to assume the opposite genders friendly behavior is flirting). If he assumes you are flirting even though you are just being friendly, he will try to touch you. When you tell him you have a bf/you are not interested, he'll get mad at you for, "leading him on". I hope this helps.
@rafas9254

@@williamafton3137 True said. That happens because girls flirt by "dropping hints", because by doing so, you can take away the responsibility of taking risks to attract someone. That's why there's always this problem in a conversation between opposite genders. If people were bolder and honest in situations like this, maybe women would never have this kind of anxiety anymore, when talking with men.

Thank you for this video showing what we go though Anna. But I still think that the whole "complicated, mysterious woman" is a prejudice arised from sexism and is a way of ailenating women. Saying women are complicated indicates that women are doing something wrong (aka something males don't do). Also it may be understood as "women don't mean what what they say" and we know the issues arising from that bias. People are the ones that are complicated, not the gender.
@AnnaAkana

Yes, hence why complicated is in quotes, because the title is sarcastic and I don't think women are complicated at all, but we're interpreted as such because men don't understand what it's like to be one

As a guy, I'm basically a monk whose terrified of rejection and thinks relationships are too much work in general and strictly sexual relationships are messy and also terrifying. So I basically treat everyone I meet like they're married and disinterested and hope to God no one finds me attractive. I feel more comfortable being friendly around women who are spoken-for because I don't have to worry they'll think I'm trying to flirt with them. I might get a cat or two since it seems appropriate for someone like me.

This video is pretty genius! Like, I feel like women have a much easier time understanding men than the other way around specially because culturally we don't have anywhere nearly as many female characters as we have male ones in fiction and like, girls grow up watching movies and reading books that show them things based off a male perspective and guys don't really get to see a lot of stories from girls perspectives, and if they do they're watching "girly movies" or something so they're kinda taught not to do it. Like, I'm a guy but i was pretty much just raised by my mom so i have always been more open minded to these things and i feel like a lot of stuff about women that's obvious to me is just a complete mistery to other dudes. So basically what i'm trying to say is: "Guys. If it's hard to understand women, just try putting yourself in their shoes more."

I can't remember the details, but there is a story about this woman who pretended to be a man. She reported that she had no idea how hard it was to be treated like a man. As a woman, she got a lot more leeway when screwing something up compared to when she pretended to be a man. So there is a big gap of understanding in the other direction as well. Women also have difficulties understanding men.

I don't see why fearing rape more than death would be a 'messed up priority'. I get that most people want to live for as long as possible, but it also seems perfectly reasonable to want to live without getting violated. ***** My advice for men for a higher rate of success is to flirt with women first and if they feel confident and have made the girl laugh and smile, they then have a chance, then ask them out. Also I don't like to ask random strangers out because there's a higher chance of rejection and you have no idea of who they are or what they'll be like. That's why I'd rather ask out a class mate, or coworker, someone I can talk to once in a while before I decide to ask them out.

What the hell is wrong with you?! How else are they supposed to establish contact? Are they supposed to read your mind? Eye contact usually is the first step of communication, but if you really don’t like it, than you should maybe always do the first step, but you won’t because you are probably really entitled and only want the „attractive“ guys to come to you because they should somehow know. You severely overestimate your importance

Every time I meet someone new who is male, I always wonder when is the right time to hint at him that I have a boyfriend. Because I always get self-conscious about it and I've had some experiences that taught me that some guys are only friendly, funny and cool to hang out with as long as they think you are available. So I am always dreading the moment when they ask me where I've been the last weekend. The truth would be: I had an amazing weekend with my boyfriend. And I wouldn't lie about it because that somehow feels like cheating. But I'm always kinda afraid that the new acquaintace will lose interest in me as soon as I say the word 'boyfriend' and that makes me sad because I am trying to make new friends and with guys it's so much harder. It's an internal struggle everytime :D Maybe the more I experience guys sticking with me because of me as a potential friend and not a potential bang, the more I become confident enough to not think about these things all too much. We'll see :D Btw, your depiction of the internal thoughts as a woman when a stranger approaches is spot on! Great video as always! But I think men know that we get scared pretty easily and become self-conscious too. He probably thought to himself: "Oh my god, how do I ask her in a non-creepy way? Was that too direct? I think that was too direct! Great, you blew it again! Why did you even think she would say yes? Her having a boyfriend was probably just an excuse to get rid of you." Meeting new people is always a scary and awkward place to be. :D

Men have to thread that thin line sometimes... We aren't that different as some women think. Just as there are horny men there are horny women... :/ sad to think people still think this way.
@Gogogobobobolin
@Gogogobobobolin 8 жыл бұрын
Its not wrong thought at all. Yes there are horny men and women. Its just overall, or at least according to the over saturated media, horny men are more creepy and up front in public. And again, because of the media, women tend to fear horny men who approach them in public, fearing they might get raped or kidnapped or killed. Horny women are less put into the media as a thing to fear in public.
@mojojojoplus2
@mojojojoplus2 8 жыл бұрын
But admittedly, we're not as worried that the woman may end up getting resentful and potentially violent or become a stalker. And, well, we're usually physically stronger, so that worry is much less for us. But yes, the "try to be friendly without potentially leading someone on" line exists for us too. It's just I think the potential stakes (physical and social) are lower for us in general. We're not that different, but we do tend to be bigger, stronger, and more aggressive, and others (even other men) have to take that into account when interacting with us. Is it fair? Probably not. But, most of the power (both physical and social) is on our side, and most of the risk (both physical and social) is on theirs. And, I would argue that when both those conditions are aligned like that, with power on one side and risk on the other, it is not the second party's (women in this case) responsibility to be fair, but the first party's (men in this case) responsibility to be conscientious and understanding.

Nah, guys have to "balance" too. First off, most of the time you're larger and stronger than women you meet. So not coming off as intimidating or pressuring them in any way is a concern. This makes it difficult not to be distant or aloof. It's also nerve wracking trying to guess whether someone is in a relationship or not, and whether you should even bother trying to talk with them. If somehow you are talking to them and you kind of like them, it's also difficult to tell whether the person is "just being nice" and want desperately for you to get away from them, or if they might actually kind of like you too. One of the worst cases is when you were friends with a girl before one of your friends started dating them. Suddenly, there is a line and it's difficult being open with them. You wouldn't want to spend too much time with them or get too personal and accidently cross into boyfriend territory. That would damage the relationship with TWO friends! I'm just saying, that being a guy trying to deal with the opposite sex can be just as ridiculous as being a girl trying to do the same.
