Wear clothes that FIT. Find a tailor - having a tailor is indispensable in helping ready-made clothes fit you better, make alterations, change details like buttons or zippers. You'd be surprised to see how even small changes can elevate and change a piece of clothing on you. Italian, Spanish, French-trained and Hong-Kong trailed tailors are the best.

I got into the whole colour analysis concept about 5 years ago and went through wardrobe clearing as well. My advice would be: don’t get rid of your favourite pieces even if they are not “your colours “. If you have worn them before and felt amazing in them who really cares what colour they are😉 unfortunately, I got rid of a lot of my good pieces and have regretted this many times since. I have even repurchased similar items because I missed them so much. At the moment I try to stick to my colours but I’m not strict about it and it makes it more fun when shopping:)

I wouldn't put that combo in quite the same category as red hair and pink. Real red hair is actually orange (which is why it's called "ginger" in the UK), so pink clashes awfully with natural red hair, especially bright pinks, which, for some reason, English gingers love.

I love watching your videos and was raised with the same European take on what looks classic and ladylike. So I generally agree with your viewpoint. What I do not understand from listening to you, is why your focus is about teaching women how to find a rich man? Wouldn’t it be better to teach them the value of attaining their own career/support system? I have a husband who is exceptionally handsome, is a wonderful father; and who is successful in his profession. However, I have a career in law, and am happy to say that I can always take care of my family if I have to. One day, when my outward appearance isn’t as important to me, I will feel confident in knowing that I do not need a rich man to support me. You are a smart woman - please teach women about the importance of earning their self reliance through education.

Kibbe body types and interpretation by Merriam style. Regarding this and color analysis. i highly recommend both to all. it is literally life changing. Now when I style myself as recommended (some of the stuff is also what you told us. But black works perfectly well with very light ppl who are cool and radiant).. It's sick, but I get complimented so many times on a day. The trick with the coloring is.. When it makes your face blur just a tiny bit.. That means all the imperfections like small marks on the skin will also blur and not get noticed.. Like wrinkles etc. This is what apps to when they make us look better. They blur and make the lines softer. When we are wearing the right colors.. It does exactly this.. And the effect is game changing. I promise you, ladies, you will not regret it. I was always insecure about the way I style etc.

Thank you so much for mentioning this Lee Chun! I am a Cool and Delicate with high contrast in Merriams system which means dark blues, dark reds and cool dark greens and greys suit me perfectly even though I am pale and blonde while the usual recommendations of pastels make me look sickly. Like you said, it is literally life changing. Kibbe (from Merriam, Aly or any other) is amazing too, I am a hourglass, but Soft Dramatic, which means I can't wear the same things as a Romantic hourglass or a Gamine with hourglass shape. For some the shapes called hourglass, square, pear etc might work, but for most I do not think that it is optimal. Like the large or small pattern example in the video, a tall Soft Gamine will look great with small patterns and details while a short Flamboyant Gamine will look great with large patterns. Btw, I think Anna is a Soft Natural, what do you guys think? :)

To me black is like a neutral and if styled right, it can look striking, sexy and super elegant on *most* skin tones, whether it's a slightly tanned blonde like Anna or a pale brunette like Dita von Teese... after all, the timeless little black dress is timeless for a reason :) Women of colour on the other hand look really gorgeous in rich, vibrant colours like magenta or royal blue... That example of Michelle Obama in Anna's video was a total miss in my opinion, the black outfit just made her look very monotone and boring. I guess what makes it so striking to me is the contrast. Same with pastels like baby blue on blondes... I always roll my eyes when I hear this outdated advice, to me it's such a boring plain Jane colour combo with no interesting contrast. Anyways, It's probably a matter of taste ;)

I agree, dressing for your body (shape) is soo important! It's WAY better than forcing to be something you aren't. A few months ago I found about the Kibbe body types (Aly Art did many many videos on that, they're great, seriously. Check it out.) And apparently I got the "Romantic" body type and now I feel so much more comfortable in my body. What I like about it is how every type is praised and nothing is "better" than the other. Other than that I think it's important to wear the right undergarments. A well fitted bra will transform your look, I personally love vintage bras that have a cone shape (not too extreme though) but you can wear of course modern bras. Just make sure the bra strap doesn't show and if you are wearing a see through shirt/white shirt to wear a NUDE colored bra, because most white bras will still show underneath. Loved the video 😊

I'm hourglass and let me tell you, to find clothes that fit in the stores is a real struggle! Since mostly they have straight patterns on their models, most of the clothes look so bulky on me, because my waist literally disappears in them! they weren't made to fit curves. Just straight bodies. And do not make me started about jeans xD What I have learned, is that I can find a clothes that fit me from brands that produce less collections but they make for women. Like the House of Foxy. More vintage.

Hi there! As I was an art minor ( many, many years ago) color is a huge passion for me. I've been studying color, style and fashion for many years. I'm so glad your sharing all of this information!! I'm a light- medium brown skinned African American woman and I found out black is not my best dark neutral. Many think just because you are a specific culture, black works. Not always the case. I have very light medium warm undertones and I have very low contrast. Carmel, camel, coppers, Champaign, ivory colors are some of my best neutrals I found out. I like you, had to re do about 80% of my wardrobe due to wrong Colors ( mostly black), style, etc. I've been training my daughter as well. I completely agree with you on everything you presented in this video. Color is very important in exuding confidence and showing your best you!! I'm so excited to see more of your videos on these topics!! You are such a beautiful, and inspiring woman. Keep inspiring!😊

I have been sewing on a machine since I was 7. I learned color analysis in the 80's. I am also a cool tone. People can wear almost any color. The trick is choosing a warm or cool tint. I am a blue eyed redhead, and I wear pink quite often and well. It is the shade of color, that matters. These are excellent tips, for women to learn.

Congratulations! I've learned about colors and skin tone a pair of years ago thank to the channel of the fashion designer Justine Leconte, and it really opened my mind and improved my overall look when I shop, dress up and make up. I've always liked light blue, for example, and were thinking that any light blue shade could work well on me... but sometimes I looked washed, sick and not pretty and could not explain why. But now I know that cool shades work on me and flatter me, so I shop and style more wisely. Thank you for this video ❤

The things you said about body types are so true. I'm an hourglass and my problem is that I can't find cloths that are small enough in the waist. And the trend of everything oversized and bulky is not helping at all! It's very difficult to find good cloths for hourglass figures. Also very true that the only materials that look good on hourglasses are the elastic ones or the garment must be tailored exactly to the proportions of the person.

Same here, although I have found a workaround for the warmer seasons. I wear loose fitting blouses (viscose as a cheaper substitute for silk) and tuck them into high waisted pants or skirts. Unfortunately this only works with thin fabrics and not with the chunky sweaters that keep me warm in the winter...

Same problem here. Everything nowadays seems to be based off rectangular slim models so it feels like potato sack on me. Very few brands actually make clothes for womanly figures, so I often have to go size up because of shoulders and hips, but then use a belt for my waist.

I almost have an hourglass figure, my shoulders are just a few cm wider than my hips but my waist is really small. I could almost never find pants or skirts that fit me well. If the waist fits, the hips are too tight, If the hips fit, the waist is huge. So i started sewing in the waist on literally all my pants and skirts and it really is a game changer! I loved that book. I got it years ago. It was fairly straightforward to work out your palette into one of four seasons. Then it all became more complex with sub-categorisations such as soft/warm/cool added to the main seasons. Now you weren't just a summer you were a cool, soft summer. It kind of helps narrow down the colours to wear, but does make it harder to find out which colours do suit me best of all.. Apparently, I am a warm summer (like Jennifer Anniston).

@@PotterSpurn1 Cool, that book started my fashion path in terms of appropriate colors. @ B G, I agree it added nuances w/ the colors...glad you’ve defined your’s. After Carole Kackson’s bk read decades ago, I graduated [smile] to Kibbe Style which is more about body structure I think. It’s the reason why I would look sloppy & unkempt in a lot of dresses Anna wears- the flowing, unstructured cut -don’t look good on me. Instead w/ Kibbe, my type needs feminine yet structured, not too flowy or dainty flowered fabrics. GOOGLE Kibbe or see Aly Art on KZbin- she breaks it down magnicently. Greetings from Chicago

Great topic, especially on color, I have been focusing on buying colors that make my skin tone “pop” and I’m building my wardrobe around those colors. I’m Mediterranean/ olive skin toned, so warm reds, mustard yellows and olive greens look very flattering on me. Also I live on the south so I have really gotten away from black unless it’s an accent color. It’s so much fun to discover colors that work, and the ones that do make you look younger and more radiant!

Gray might also be an option for people with blue gray eyes. I wear navy/blues when I want my eyes to look bluer, and anything from light gray to lighter shades of charcoal if I want to highlight the gray tones. (I have similar coloring to Anna, btw. In my sixties I’ve always had an intuitive approach to my dress and makeup. I knew a mistake when I made it, but couldn’t work out why something wasn’t working. My figure is straight, with no waist. All my efforts to give myself a waist have been a big fail, so now I have stopped fighting it and opting for baggier shirts etc, and vavoom, it’s working and looks elegant instead of popping out at the waist. Thx for that insight as now I know why it wasn’t working and don’t feel my lack of a waist means I’m fat. Now the penny drops; better late than never. Thank you lovely lady 🤩

I was introduced to the concept of Warm and Cool by as system called Color Me Beautiful that separated people into 4 different seasons - Spring and Autumn - warm and Summer and Winter - cool. This was so validating as to why I had always gravitated towards soft cool tones as I met the Summer coloring guidelines. Anna, from the first time I watched you, I knew you were a summer as soft cool tones suit you so much. I am deeper completed than you (mac 25-30 NW, Chanel 32-40) and need slightly more shaded tones (cool toned pastels with a touch of gray). So glad you are teaching this concept to others as most youtubers tend to encourage colors that we "like" or don't have (this may be the reason) rather than makeup or clothing that suits our coloring. Great video!

For me, this tip which helps elevate my look is having custom tailored clothes (skirts, dresses, jackets, pants) in my wardrobe. Basically, i have them because i am very petite (140 cm height and 37 kg weight), but in the end they make huge difference, ladies, trust me. Custom tailored piece can elevate your look in a moment and give that effortless chic look. And surely you should use color pailette that suits you and flatters your skin tone. Start with guidelines kindly provided by Anna in this video and start to make your own research on color theory.

Awesome tips! I’m so happy to hear you say rectangle body shapes are better off without garments that accentuate the waist. Most Others have said that this kind of body shape SHOULD wear belted coats etc. and I’ve always disagreed. I have the rectangle body and I don’t wear anything belted in the waist-it’ll accentuate the fact that I literally look like a ruler!!! LOL oh & i’m pretty flat chested and tall so wearing a padded bra helps even me out a little bit (i’m sure a petite person would be fine with my size breasts, but my height needs more up there!).
