OVERTONE SINGING & LAMBDOMA by Anna-Maria Hefele (full solo performance)

The LAMBDOMA is a musical sculpture built by the austrian artist Josef Baier. It is based on the ancient Lambdoma Matrix which is is attributed to the philosopher Pythagoras (500 bc).
Josef Baiers Lambdoma is made out of a combination of four Lambdoma Matrixes that are arranged together as rectangle, forming a dome that can be entered by the performer as well as by the listener. It consists out of 256 tubes that are up to 3 meters long and are perfectly tuned in pure harmonic overtone - and undertone series. The music & video was recorded live in: Studienkirche St. Josef in Burghausen, Germany, 2021.
For me, Anna-Maria Hefele, it was an incredible and very touching experience to work with LAMBDOMA. My ongoing overtone singing practice (since 2005) allowed me to find precise and intuitive orientation within the tonal Lambdoma structure, knowing exactly where to expect which note in the system and how they are related to each other. This enabled me to connect deeply in a very joyful way with this wonderful instrument!

That final shot, the look on her face as she feels the harmonies she’s worked with in her own breath and body for twenty years filling the space she’s in, knowing them like a conversation with an old friend as they merge and beat and wind down - sublime. What a wonderful performance to experience, even at this mediated remove.

I have recently returned from my first weekend of Voice Sound Healing training - rediscovering overtones in my own voice and experiencing the powerful effect of toning and overtoning as a group in a sound chamber. Always so magnificent! I was already mesmerized by your mastery 7 years ago, when I first stumbled on one of you tutorial videos, and when I saw first the short version (EDIT : little did I know that Andesana and Lambdoma were separate pieces, Andesana being more intense and melancholic, cruelly short, but intense and so beautiful), I was in a transe-like state. This short video stops, I go look up your chain, and I find this longer piece (which didactically share the true length of sound the real secret behind percussion) and several videos that I had not seen yet! I am happy to have seen/heard you dance with organic textures in such a way, surrounded and transported through these cathedrals of secret sound. Thank you so much, Anna Maria, in the hope that one day before the end, I'll have the honor to see you perform in the flesh.

Tu é minha referência de canto polifonico .tipo o máximo da perfeição. Até agora nem comecei a praticar só fazer um treino por intuição. Ontem descobri que se eu tiver tempo nesse corpo físico quero criar meu estilo ou tradição assim sendo não vai ser dos antigos mongois nem dos monges franciscanos e sim vai ser cabanencis cianenssys. Puxo o som lá do fundo da angústia e desarmonia e sai uns sons irados ou lamentosos mas sempre triunfantes. Oque tu faz com o som que sai pelo teu nariz é algo gigantesco como nossa galáxia e aqui no planeta terra ninguém conseguiu ouvir ainda nem mesmo você pois se ouvissemos nos desmaterialializimos. Tu foi mandada pra criar uma frequência que se comunica com galáxias distantes ! Tu veio pra manter aberto um canal antigo como a terra. Eu apenas cheguei perto de ouvir por meio segundo teu som e isso me desmaterialisou por 1 minuto. Agora vivo em outra dimensão. Agradeço a internet por me dar a oportunidade de dizer isso pra ti que é uma deusa. Foi deusa no egito.e é agora. Ouvindo enquanto digito me sinto desligado de tudo flutuando no ar até porque fumei canabis sativa. Vou tentar fazer esse som que sai do meu nariz entrar na esfera do som padrão das 7notas músicas. “You’re my polyphonic singing reference. The most perfect I’ve seen. I haven’t even begun to practice, just training by intuition. Yesterday I’ve discovered that if I have time in this physical body I want to create my own style and tradition that way being not from the mongols or the Franciscan munks but from cabanencis cianenssys. I pull the sounds from the depths of anguish and disharmonie and it gets some incredible or lamenting sounds that are nevertheless triumphant. What you do with the sound that comes out of your nose is something as gigantic as the galaxy, and here on planet earth no one was able to listen yet, not even you, because if we did we’d dematerialize. You were sent to emit a frequency that communicates with distant galaxies! You came to keep open a Chanel as old as earth. The tubes absolutely produce overtones, many overtones, and you can bring out different ones depending on where you strike the tube and with different materials.
