Amazing views. Did you walk on the Lake?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
No, it was a bit of a walk down to the lake and after hiking up there, we didn't want to extend our hiking for the day. After we hiked back down to the lodge we got packed up, put our backpacks on and hiked back down the trail a ways. So we needed to save some energy for that. Amazing views indeed though.

hi Edilsa, thanks. Here's a playlist of videos from another trek we did recently in the Himalayas, in which you get a good idea of the lodges we stay in, the food and other aspects of the trekking experience: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGPEpo2dm9iie8k I will also be posting more videos from this same trek, including one in which I show all of my expenses for the day, in particular the food. As for Instagram, I don't have an account yet but plan to create one sometime soon.

Are you pretty much acclimated to the high altitude by now or is breathing still difficult?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
Going over Thorung La pass at 17,769 feet was still pretty intense, but I'd acclimatized pretty well. I'm now back in Pokhara, my Himalayan adventures over for this visit I think, other than maybe a day hike from here before I leave.

@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
Not really actually, more like above the fog that settles in the valley. I remember when I was a kid in California, where I lived in the hills above town we would see the same thing looking down into the valley even though it was only a few thousand feet in elevation.

Amazing as always! Thankyou so much. I followed your Annapurna Circuit trek up until now. Massively informative as I never know I could come all the way upto Mangan via Jeep. I am planning my AC trek next week. One Question. What kind of shoes will be suitable for the adventure. Keep Rocking! :D
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sahil. Some kind of sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots. I wore shoes, but they were shoes for hiking with good soles with plenty of grip. Hiking boots are a good idea as well.

how much does it cost to do this trek?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
I will be posting another video soon showing the costs of everything. But basically it was $40 for the permits, plus whatever you spend on gear beforehand, and then it's about $15-30 a day for your daily expenses depending on the lodge, how high in elevation you are, etc. Prices for food go up as you get further away from civilization because porters have to carry it farther.

Why are there no bears living around trails of the Himalayas?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 8 жыл бұрын
I actually talked to some locals on the trail at one point who said they had seen a bear just a few minutes before. But I think they're very rare.
@jrodtheillegal4196

Gabriel Traveler Thank you for your reply, and found out that the Himalayan black bears are scattered across the Himalayas from Bhutan to Pakistan, and they are seasonally found at heights of anywhere from 5000 ft to up to 12000 ft. They are diurnal by nature, though the majority of them have become nocturnal in order to avoid humans. They often spend the day in caves or hollowed out trees. P.s., found your videos educational and enjoyable.

You should not take seriously the "highest, biggest in the world" Nepalese frequently come up with without any base in reality. There are about 10 lakes at above 5000m in Khumbu alone, just look at any map. There are some lakes at over 6000m in the Andes. We went across from Khangsar to Thini in 2009 with one camp at the west end of the lake at over 5000m altitude. Interesting trek but not exactly safe with glacial steam crossings. Also the trails across the landslide section were only about 20 cm wide at the time, no handrails...
