Late diagnosed ADHD-er here - I was diagnosed at age 48, 3 years ago and OMG, the diagnosis was life-changing and explained SO MUCH of what I've struggled with all my life. I'm totally pro-medication generally, but unfortunately, I found I couldn't tolerate the types I tried and just didn't get enough benefits from it to justify the side effects (and couldn't justify constantly trying more only to risk getting yet more side effects). I have found ways to work with my brain instead of against it though, and am lucky enough to be able to set my life and business up in ways that mostly work for me. It's not perfect, but it's vastly better than it was before my diagnosis.

Sorry but who on earth said you talk too much?? 😤😤 Anyway I've never been diagnosed myself but the ADHD struggles you've experienced over the years sound a little too relatable. Especially not realizing your full potential because of all this, that part hit home. Thank you so much for this video, I've never actually taken the time to understand exactly what was happening (definitely procrastinated on it for years) but now you've inspired me to actually do something about it. Amazing as always ❤

The procrastinating on taking action part is all too familiar 😂 I hope you figure things out and start living up to your highest self, whatever that looks like for you❤ thanks for stopping by!

I learned about Notion through one of your videos a year ago, came back now because I'm updating my setup and wanted to see how you did a thing... And I'm so glad I did it! Thank you for sharing your journey, I'm still waiting to get my diagnosis and every story I hear gives me more confidence in accepting and understanding myself. I really enjoyed the tips at the end, I'd love to learn more about the decision laws. Also looking forward for the next Notion video! And as another organization-obssessed girlie, this time I'm making sure to subscribe 😆

I was diagnosed only in 2020 and I feel terrible that I didn’t know earlier and could have seen someone to help me. I feel like I’ve been playing catch up my entire life. Thank you for being so vulnerable and explaining everything so well. I relate to many of the things you have said. ❤ I need structure also. At the moment I have three rough schedules I have that I will use depending on how much energy I have (recently also diagnosed with graves). I also use squishies! if you remember in the 90s, they had a lot of toys for kids that had oil and water in them? That helps me so much with stress and fidgeting now. Please go on and talk more!

I’m so happy you finally found help! No one to catch up with since we’re all on our own journey. But easier said than done. 🥲 The flexible structure thing has been critical for me too!! It’s like *too* much structure is stifling but not enough leads to chaos haha

Yes please make another video. My parents were told I might have adhd back in primary school. I'm getting private diagnosing now at 30, next week. Excited to know whether it might be adhd or me just being a normal deadbeat 😂😂😂

This is exactly me, except for when I saw psychologists and psychiatrists in college no one mentioned ADHD (even though I described my issues with studying which were exactly like yours), they just saw the anxiety nos and depression nos (that came from undiagnosed adhd 🙃). I had to self-diagnose years later and had to bring that specific concern to a professional before they’d bring it up.

i have never been diagnosed with adhd and will perhaps one day look into getting checked/diagnosed, but many of the struggles i hear discussed related to adhd are ones i absolutely relate to -- keeping excessively bad procrastination habits in hs/college (which were masked by good grades), never actually paying attention class, difficulty prioritizing tasks, and having lots of plans that i never actually achieve because i'm atrocious at follow through. thank you so much for sharing your story -- i definitely related to a lot of it ❤❤ (also, i am looking forward to your newest notion template!!)

I wish I could go to psychiatrist and get diagnosed with ADHD which I know I have, but I live in a conservative and strict environment. My grandma is a teacher working with “special” kids (with ADHD and autism specifically) and in her mind it would be a disgrace to have a granddaughter with “problems”. Her comments on the matter reached my mom, and she refuses to seek help for the sake of not having fights over it later. Instead she advised me to read articles on the internet to try to find a solution, but internet My parents also took for granted the fact that I was the mature and quiet kid who never caused troubles and never asked for anything and focused on my brother who has the stereotypical ADHD. Now he’s fully diagnosed, while I struggle with OCD, motivation, productivity and procrastination. In addition, we went to completely different schools up to 4 months ago. He’s always been going to private school specializing in individual learning, while I spent my whole life struggling to fit in in public school. Fortunately I started going to private high school and things started to look better. Up until this point, I’ve been working myself to death, sleeping 4hrs, drinking 3 cups of coffee every day, forcing myself to study for hours and just barely passing my tests. I’m trying to find a solution but I just think going to a specialist would help me a lot, so let’s wish for change in my mom’s mind somewhere in the near future

@WesleyAnna Most inventors and entrepreneurs had ADHD; otherwise, they would be relaxed and silent, doing boring jobs. ADHD has pros and cons, depending on the life situation.

@@gileneusz yes! I’ve been very entrepreneurial since childhood and only just started connecting those dots recently 😅 I also believe that ADHD’ers can be more creative too because of how scattered our thoughts are-lets us make interesting connections quicker than straight thinkers.

Late-diagnosed AuDHD-er, I would love to hear the full script that you alluded to at the end of the video. Your experiences mirror mine in a lot of ways, especially regarding some of the nasty thoughts about the "fairness" of medication, and I'd love to hear more from you about your mental health journey. (I came for the notion videos and stayed for the ADHD content haha) Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with the world.

There are parts of your story so sad. I'm so identified with them. I'm 33, and my ADHD was diagnosed less than a year ago. The way you see your own life after knowing you're not lazy, dumb, or incapable changes everything. I'm getting used to medication, therapy, methods, routine, trying to learn how to get better organization of all aspects of my life. Thanks a lot for your sensible and vulnerable relate. And thank you for producing content to people like us. Cheers from Brazil
