It is SO easy to forget Home Free is acapella. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is incomparable. I love how Home Free keeps a lot of their video environments simple--allows the focus to be on the message and their incredible acapella vocals. I feel like I’ll always enjoy singing this one. And I’ve realized it’s somewhat due to the range Tim using being a very comfortable place for my voice. Also with practice I’m now able to do the backing bass drop to E1 on “I am.” I just sent my cousin that video to mark the holidays. He was impressed enough to text me he wants to hear it on nice speakers. I hope that your Christmas was good, and that 2025 will bring you continued success and joy. 🎄🎊🎵

Love it! You are absolutely correct in your assessment of their version of the song. It’s so well done and I was surprised that there was even beatboxing in the song…but it works. It’s my favorite version. Their singing is so good, and I loved the video with the manger and star of Bethlehem above them. Just beautiful! Great reaction Anna!

Thank you for sharing this reaction. I enjoy your analysis very much. And your pleasure in the experience. I hadn't actually noted that it begins with Tim sort of "speaking" and ends that way as well. It is part of what makes the arrangement move me as it does, i think. Feeling the sort of explosion of emotion between the serious and quiet question at the beginning and then, again at the end, after personally joining into the emotion, the joy, from the center section. A great version. That last "Mary, did you know?" by Tim brings tears to my eyes every time.

The switch from Chris Rupp to Adam Chance freed Tim up to sign leads a bit more often - especially for the concerts, since they could easily doble Tim in the studio for the recordings. I haven't gone back to see the comments in your previous HF reactions yet, so I don't know if anyone has told you that Rob studied Opera in college. Austin did Musical Theater, and Adam Rupp majored in Trumpet - look for their release of The Christmas Song on their new album, the trumpet performance in it is Rupp playing - we have verified that with him. Adam Rupp always knows exactly what a song needs (or doesn't) for percussion. And if, as in quite a few of their sacred songs, there is no percussion - or only occasional percussion - he lets us hear his lovely tenor voice. I am curious to see how/if the sort of songs they put out now will change at all with Adam Bastien in Austin's place. To my ear, Bastien's (bass-TEEN) voice isn't as 'round' as Austin's - I don't think he would fit in a song like Make you Feel my Love as well as Austin did, for example. As for recommendations - unless there are certain genres/styles you prefer, you might as well throw a dart at the play list. Enjoy!
