I really enjoyed Morrissette's version of this classic Christmas song ! Her beautiful high register always shines through and her subtle vocal nuances were wonderful ! She added many of her own stylish enhancements to the song ! On a personal note I think Christmas hymns should be sung in a more traditional way ! Christmas songs on the other hand are open to personal interpretation ! I guess because in church we sang the hymns a certain way as did the choir ! But out of church when we sang Christmas songs we were more free to really let loose and enjoy the festive mood the songs bring out ! Taking nothing away from Morrissette's rendition that was beautifully interpreted and performed ! Thank you as always Anna for being so informative in your analysis of this wonderful artist ! The saying: "Variety is the spice of life" is what Mori did to her worship version of this song. The first part is the old fashion way and the last half she adds twists both for the old and mllennials to appreciate the song. In the last part, I like the deep and intense passion that she expresses to connect with her audience! I can't believe that at her young age(25yrs) she sings more mature like the older singers.
