Anne was truly based! Super episode Eric! Looks like Anne's daughter married John Cole in 1651 and had a family. The resilience of the human spirit, especially in the period you cover, is tremendous and undaunted. The Narragansett Historical Record Magazine of 1882-1883 tells this of Ann Hutchinson: "If Mrs. Ann Hutchinson would not have been banished by those men of deep intent and high resolve, the puritanical sanhedrim of a neighboring colony, men, whom from an overrevernce of the Old Testament, had virtually, but without consciousness thereof, prevented and obstructed the promises, the graces, and the charities of the new, Rhode Island must have had a different founder, a different direction, and a different destiny."

@@theotherstatesofamericahis5212 all night my gut was telling me her murder was not an accident. That the siwanoy were peaceful people. This morning I found this… “I never heard that the Indians in those parts did ever before this commit the like outrage upon any one family,” said Rev. Thomas Weld. “And therefore God’s hand is the more apparently seen herein, to pick out this woeful woman, to make her and those belonging to her an… example of their cruelty above all others.” Colony authorities were so severely threatened by her power they put money on her head. And my gut tells me they paid an awful lot to have her erased. The siwanoy murder was a cover. Atrocious. She will be avenged!

@@theotherstatesofamericahis5212 so Susannah had the child before the age of 12? Why was this not mentioned at the time of her “rescue”, and what is the source of the information Susannah was impregnated and had a child by the age of 11 or 12, whether she was with the Indians for 3 or 4 years?
