I have no idea what I’m doing wrong! I have tried several times to make a matcha green tea clay mask & just before I’m ready to start adding the preservative & scent it all separates! I use the emulsifying wax to mix the oils & distilled water, that works beautifully, slowly add my clays (fullers earth, superfine kaolin & the matcha powder) to begin with everything looks great then all of a sudden it turns into a horrible separated mess! I’ve wasted so much ingredients & it’s really driving me crazy! What am I doing wrong?? Please help 🙏🏻
@kelleyspartiatis53234 жыл бұрын
Acoustic Newbie38 the way shown here is not how you make a proper emulation. You need to heat and hold your oil and water phases separately for 20 mins and it matters which way you pour. Whether oil into water or water into oil. Go to swift craft monkey to learn properly. She is excellent and knows what she’s doing. You can always just add oil or water to your dry ingredients as you use it for a nice mask too. If you only want a small amount of oil you can use polysorbate 80 to solubilise it in a water base for your mask. There are so many options but this is not how you make a stable emulation.
@acousticnewbie38614 жыл бұрын
Yes, discovered polysorbate 80 was the answer & looked for recipes elsewhere :)

Hi. Could I turn this into a foot mask, by substituting the 2 clays with bentonite clay, or keeping the kaolin clay, but substitute the sea clay out for bentonite clay, and instead of the Ginseng for the face could I add magnesium oil? Or does the magnesium oil substitute one of the oils? What would be your recommendation on this idea please? Thank you😊
@bramble-berry Жыл бұрын
Magnesium Oil looks to be water based so you would want to substitute it for another water based ingredient. You can definitely substitute the Kaolin Clay with either of those options.
