Thank you so much for saying that....I must admit I've been getting a bit of the "creator blues" which I think most everyone on KZbin feels from time to time - but nevertheless hearing kind words such as yours has a way of bringing me out of it! Thank you so much!!! Have a lovely weekend! 💞

I also think of Autumn when I think of Anne of G.G.!! Many, many yrs. ago, I started collecting children's books based on if I liked the illustrations. Did the same w/ Little Golden Books. My FAVORITE illustrator for those is Eloise Wilkins. Enjoyed this, thank you. P.S. I'm a New England girl, born and bred. Living in S.E. Mi. now for w long time, WAY TOO LONG. Will always miss my New England(Mass.+ N.H.). Had a best friend who lived in Maine. She was Anne and I was Diane, although my personality was more like Anne's. She said she had to be Anne. HA!

What a funny story which made me laugh! (about your friend) I actually lived near Boston for about three years and loved it there too! Eloise Wilkins- I remember her "I like Kindergarten" book with great fondness. It has this overwhelming nostalgic feeling for me! I think it is because I would read it at my grandparents' house and I remember everything about my grandparents in that fond way! Thank you so much for watching!!! Have a lovely weekend!!💞

Hi Katie! Oh what a lovely thing to say....thank you so much!!!! I am so glad that you have been inspired that way! I just find it so much easier to read classics to my boy with the right illustrated version and I never thought about it until I was reading The Wind in the Willows one day with very few pictures! Thank you so much for commenting and have a lovely evening!

How interesting that Evelyn Nesbitt was the inspiration for Anne. That actually really tickles my funny bone because they could not be more opposite. 😆😆😆😆 How sad that the Canterbury Classics one is not attributed to anyone! I feel like a lot of the illustrated classics that came after the movie were definitely drawing from the movie.

Yes....was it you who was showing L.M. Montgomery's scrapbook? It really piqued my curiosity when I saw it on someone's channel...I wondered if there is anything about that picture in it. Yes I had not thought about that in regards to the movie...!!!

I had my coffee with you in your video, this morning, Heather! Don't you just love it when an illustrator takes a slightly different take on a classic? I do! So lovely that Mick Ellison responded by email. That was really sweet! I also associate Anne more with Autumn than Spring. I think it's because nature is at such a maximum height of our senses, then . . . I've always found Autumn to be much more invigorating and sensory than Spring and Summer. And LM and Anne are so in tune with nature and the books are in part a love letter to the natural world. That's one reason I so adored Anne With An "E" because it honored that aspect of the books. Thank you for sharing your lovely editions!

Ah that sounds amazing Celeste! I do love it - I think that is what makes it so interesting to look at the illustrated versions as a collective for me! I know right? Mick Ellison's response was just so great! That is such a great way to put it Celeste, and very much along the lines of what I was trying to articulate about autumn being more of a time for "Anne" for me. Well put! I also love Anne with an E! Speaking of shows, I watched The Lost King and it was sooo good! Thank you for mentioning that on your video!!

Did u ever find that illustrator for the one in middle of the video?
@WaterBearReads5 ай бұрын
I did! I came across a paperback version with the same illustrations. It seems to be by a group called CBS Learning. I looked them up but could not make heads or tails. I'm thinking it is a student group of digital illustrators or something along those lines. But no one illustrator that I can write about!
