Interesting to see the City Lawyer and others in this video that are no longer in Lake Elmo due to Anne Smith and others basically running them out of town or terminating their services. The turnover in the past year is beyond what we should expect and a big negative for our city.
This video also shows Anne Smith taking the time to fight for Benjamin Roth who is running for City Council in Lake Elmo in 2016. Curious to see if Roth is on team Smith or an independent leader.

Having served on a local Board as Secretary, VP, and finally President, I can tell you that Minutes are never meant to be an exhaustive detailed account of everything that was said. The key is for them to be as brief as possible, while still capturing the subject matter accurately. All members were given proposed past Minutes in advance of new meetings so they could make suggestions. Then at the meeting those amendments could be voted on quickly. If any Board followed what Council Member Smith did, the entire meeting would be taken up with the Minutes. On her very first example from page 2 (of 8) she read a long statement that she wanted in the Minutes. Imagine letting her do that for eight pages. Nope.

The reason for closed sessions are based on laws that your city, county, and state governments pass which require closed sessions to discuss these matters. If you do not want closed sessions, change the laws and stop blaming the boards, councils and whom/whatever.

You must have never served on a Board. There are extremely good reasons to have executive sessions. There has to be a mechanism where you can discuss specific things in a way that doesn't open you up to lawsuits. Do you really want a Board to discuss a staff member by name who is suspected of theft? That's just one of several reasons.

@@forthefunofit3230 Instead of yelling with no solutions, how about offering one up. Laws, MOUs, et. al dictate what you can and cannot discuss in open sessions. If you do not like it, then start a movement to change the law. Tantrums solve nothing.

hmm i think you might find that's called doctoring official documents no matter how he looks at it and its better verbatim as who is he to say what can and can't go into meeting notes ? as its a group of people and that's why it's verbatim, wow a lot of assumptions going on here
